About this deal

The cool part is that I’ve been playing my Horrors as a motley assortment of Pinks and Blues (from all editions of the game except the melty 3rd edition Horrors, which I loathed) painted appropriately, but mixed together (since the splitting rules had been pretty much abolished anyway from a practical sense). This made it a simple matter for me of just sort them out. Still, GW needs to stop pussyfooting around and release Blue and Brimstone Horrors in their own kits ASAP, as I need at least 4 more Blues (for the Lorestealer Host formation) and 10-20 more Brimstones just to meet the demand. Bloodthirster • Bloodmaster • Rendmaster • Sacred Executioner • Skullmaster • Bloodletter • Bloodcrusher • Blood Slaughterer • Brass Scorpion • Flesh Hound • Juggernaut • Blood Throne • Skull Cannon • Skull Altar Each God is represented here once, with 4 Enhancements in the index that each play into a strength of their respective God. They also have synergy with the Shadow Of Chaos rule, adding another level of strategy to how you use your units.

Opponent’s Deployment Zone: If you control at least half of the objective markers in your opponent’s deployment zone, then his/her deployment zone is considered within the Shadow Of Chaos. You would have to move your locus Herald from the pinks to the blues to get that many brimstones, which is probably not gonna happen in practice... But still... So no fun. Helbrute • Ferrum Infernus Dreadnought • Chaos Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought • Sonic Dreadnought • Berserker Dreadnought • Leviathan Dreadnought The followers of Tzeentch are always pursuing strange and inscrutable plots of their own – represented in-game by the new agenda system. Every hero phase, you can announce that you’re attempting to complete one of five agendas. If one of your Tzeentch units completes that agenda, they get a new ability as a reward. Mass Conjuration, for instance, rewards you for casting spells by making it easier to cast more – Tzeentch is, after all, the god of magic! The unique thing about Blue Horrors is the fact a pair of Blue Horrors are spawned when a Pink Horror dies. A base of Brimestone Horrors consisting of two flame like sprites is spawned when a Blue Horror is slain. The Blue Horrors box set of models is awesome. You get a total of 20 models (10 Blue and 10 Brimstone Horrors)Plaguebearers return almost unchanged, losing 1 AP on their Plagueswords in exchange for letting you retain control of objective markers after they walk off of them. Chaos Lord • Exalted Champion • Chaos Champion • Aspiring Champion • Sorcerer Lord • Daemon Prince • Daemon Prince of Nurgle • Daemon Prince of Tzeentch • Death Guard Lord Locus of Change is a streamlined ability that brings several Tzeentch Loci under a single, consistent banner. How it works is simple – Tzeentch Daemons wholly within 12” of a friendly Tzeentch Daemon Hero are harder to hit in melee, giving units that are traditionally most effective casting spells or bombarding enemies with warpflame some added (and very welcome) durability. So I have 60-odd Horrors, and intend to add another 20 or so (mostly Brimstones), and that seems reasonable and manageable. Oh don’t get me wrong, I know what I said earlier and I certainly don’t mean to start them all on the table all at once. Indeed, I’ve determined that I don’t intend to likely ever begin with more than 2-3 units of Horrors in my armies anymore. In addition, I’ll likely stop bringing the Portalglyph (once a staple) in my Tzeentch Daemon armies altogether, and as I said earlier, I’ll probably rarely, intentionally, summon more Pink Horrors.

In an organised units there will be a Hornblower to motivate, an Iconbearer with a flaming Tzeentchian icon to summon reinforcements and their champion, an Iridescent Horror, that doles out death with glee. [2] Blue Horrors Horrors now only have access to the Change psychic discipline, meaning they no longer have access to the Malefic discipline. Gone are the days when Horrors can summon more daemons, cast Cursed Earth or sacrifice themselves to become a greater daemon. Shalaxi has absolutely shown up to play in the new codex. With full hit, wound, and damage rerolls on her d6+2 damage Soulpiercer with Precision, she is going to rip gaping holes in even the toughest units in the game. She also has an innate Feel-No-Pain 5+ rule, meaning she gets free access to the whip wargear in addition. Combined with the fact that her Pavane Of Slaanesh gets Sustained 3 on its supercharged version, Shalaxi actually brings some non-negligible shooting to the table. The downside is that she doesn’t have -1 to Hit like other Keepers, meaning she is a bit more vulnerable to being shot off the table. Deepstriking closer now relies on the Shadow Of Chaos, not Leadership. This also means we don’t get to deepstrike 3” away from enemies while in our own deployment zone. Deepstriking 6” away from enemies in our deployment zone is still pretty cool, however. Finally there’s Warpcraft, which focuses on Pyskers. Although Daemons have cheap Psykers and the ability to take more thanks to Horrors, Psychic Actions can only be done by CHARACTERS, and because those are all in the HQ slot and powerful units, you’ll want them casting psychic powers and smiting rather than spending their psychic phases on actions. The big downside here is Abhor the Witch, which is going to be used against you in almost every game you come up against an army with no psykers, and will typically be combined with Assassinate/Bring It Down to make each Greater Daemon kill worth an insane 8 Victory Points, and that’s for killing a unit that can’t be protected by Look Out, Sir and was already part of your opponent’s game plan. It’s not quite reason enough to not take Greater Daemons, but it makes taking exactly three of them kind of awkward, meaning you may want to conisder going all in and bringing more (or other big things).

Pink Horrors are gleeful and capricious daemons that can generate raw, lunatic magic by gibbering nonsense and whirling and flailing their arms. In large units the air so filled with arcane force with them they can target their enemies with unnatural fire, making the Magical Flames they hurl at an enemy the more of them they are, and enhance casting ability of other Tzeentchian Daemons. In combat they use their grasping hands to choke and strangle their enemies. [2] [3] [1a] Keeper of Secrets • Herald of Slaanesh ( Infernal Enrapturess) • Daemonette • Seeker Chariot of Slaanesh • Fiend • Steed of Slaanesh • Seekers • Hate-Angel • Contorted Epitome • Lady of the Voids • Ruination of Imperfect Beauty The Bloodthirster and Great Unclean one are still overpriced and the Great Unclean one suffers from the new terrain rules, which make it visible through obscuring terrain. The rest of the HQs made out OK with 5- and 10-point adjustments with the exception of the Winged Daemon Prince of Chaos (+30), who is the big loser here as a result of the inexplicable need to make every Daemon Prince cost the same amount of points despite having different statlines, rules, and powers. The Winged Daemon Prince was already a rare sight in Chaos Daemons and so that’s not likely to change now. In fact, once I settled upon the idea of happily creating small units of lesser Horrors from casualties to my Pink Horror units, a devious light bulb (with tentacles) materialized over my cranium. With a little practice and skill, I could even create such units on purpose. And this idea planted even more devious thoughts in my head. Once I got going, I couldn’t stop. So when I play Horrors, I’ll be doing the following to try and squeeze every last additional small unit of Blue or Brimstone Horrors out of those original 2-3 Pink Horror units: One of my favorite changes is the return of Instruments to their 8th Edition and earlier form, as they now provide +1 to Charge rolls for units that can take them again. With Icons improving Leadership by 1, both upgrades provide real benefits for the units carrying them.

Chaos Cultists • Poxwalkers • Pestigor • Plague Zombies • Plague Ogryn • Thrall Wizard • Tzaangor • Tzaangor Enlightened • Tzaangor Shaman • Dark Disciple And even if it did work, the Loci bubble only affects model from the formation, which Blues are not part of. Blue Horrors are sullen and malicious, like evil-tempered children, and sneer and grumble their way through a battle. Once spawned, they add a deeper whining note to the incessant chortling of the group of Horrors as they attempt to grapple with enemies and squeeze the life from them, before inevitably wandering off in search of fresh entertainment. [1a] Daemon Prince • Furies • Soul Grinder • Daemon Engine • Daemonic Herald • Chaos Spawn • Chaos Beast • Mutalith Vortex Beast • Brute • Shrike • Behemoth • Imp We posted this in the Thousand Sons Faction Focus, but it’s worth reposting here where it’s less of a troll for readers. This list is patterned after the one that Davis Frye recently piloted to a 1st-place finish at a 9th-edition release party RTT in Virginia, and focuses on threat saturation with big daemons (Frye has given credit to Seth Riggins for coming up with the list).Use an unnecessary amount of Warp Charge dice when trying to invoke a psychic power to try and suffer a Perils of the Warp result (hoping to take some casualties), assuming I have the dice to spare in a given turn. In particular, during those rare occasions when I have dice left over, but no suitable targets or things to do with my psychic powers that matter, invoking them anyway hoping for that Perils of the Warp. This tactic becomes all the more insidious once you realize that a result of 8 on the new Tzeentchian Warp Storm table (also found in Wrath of Magnus) reduces all Warp Charge costs to invoke psychic powers by 1, but automatically results in a Perils of the Warp if you fail. Mu Hoo Ha Ha Ha… It isn't right unless you manage to get the Herald in the unit of Blues for the Locus to work on them. It is highly unlikely that something would kill all 20 Pinks while leaving the Herald alive.
