About this deal

Powertec’s Lat Tower Option features a high and low pulley allowing you to perform additional cable exercises. The new and improved, world renowned design and build provides a smooth, quiet performance (Olympic plate loading only, weights not included).

So I guess which direction you place the numbers is a matter of personal preference. As for me, I’m too lazy to turn mine to face in, so they're staying the way they are. It is possible to perform body weight squats or other variations such as goblet squats using dumbbells or kettlebells – however by lifting lighter weights you are going to limit the level of progression you can make. Upon building the cage (which was relatively straightforward thanks to the easy-to-follow instructions), the first thing that strikes you is the high quality of materials used. As for the assembly of the lat tower option, the illustrations in the instructions were small and somewhat hard to follow. It is possible to squat on a Smith Machine but it isn’t advisable. The main reason we would not advise anyone to squat on a Smith Machine is that the bar path is dictated for you and is not ideally suited to squatting. When squatting you want to move the bar in as close to a vertical path as possible whereas a Smith Machine will take it in a path that is not completely vertical.

Max chin-up bar & dip bar load: 400lbs (181kg) perfect for heavy weighted pull-ups, chins, and dips. This really depends on your goals. Squatting helps to develop lower body muscles and is particularly useful for helping to develop the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves and the glutes. Performing squats also helps to develop your core muscles and as such it is one of the best strength exercises you can undertake.

Improved pull up bar (it’s wider and has capped ends to prevent the grip material from slipping), though, as I discuss here, I still have a complaint The safety catches are also moveable and easy to change – and of course allow you to lift heavier weights easier without the need for a spotter (we do recommend that you use a spotter though when working out with heavy weights). The width of the M120 ranges from 78cm to 123cm whilst the bar height has an impressive range of 93cm to 151cm. Squats – perform squats safely in the cage. The heavy-duty spotter/safety bars are there to drop the barbell if you need to bail. So to answer your question, if I were in your shoes, I would most definitely go with Rogue–specifically, I would buy the Rogue R3.

Alternatives

Both are fully compatible with 6ft international bars and all 7ft bars, have maximum loads of upwards of 286kg and are made from high quality powder coated steel frames.

It’s also worth remembering that squats are not just great for building muscle, they are also a great way to burn calories and as such they have a great deal of potential when it comes to burning calories and in turn burning fat long after the workout. Our lower body muscles are much larger than most of the upper body muscles and therefore require more replenishment and repair from our body which is why we would never recommend skipping leg day! With the standard out-of-the-box setup you will be able to perform a pretty extensive upper and lower body workout with chin-ups, pull-ups, hanging leg raises, dips, squats, presses and horizontal pull-ups all at your disposal. The moveable J hooks are very high quality and are easy to adjust in to different positions. Investing in the spotter arms is definitely worthwhile if you are planning on working out alone or lifting big. Even with these minor problems, I still managed to put the whole thing together in about four hours.

Consumers who have less room will like the more space-friendly dimensions of 87 inches tall, 47 inches wide, and 29 inches deep. The R3 has the coveted “Westside hole pattern” (1″ hole spacing in the bench area; 2″ hole spacing everywhere else). Meanwhile, the Powertec has a larger gap of 2.5″ hole spacing all around, which isn’t terrible, but it’s much less precise for when it comes to adjusting the pins and catches during bench bench press. Built with a solid frame for extra support, the multi-position flat/incline Workbench Utility Bench is designed to support your strength training. For ease of use, its low to the ground design enables easy access. Does this mean that it is impossible to do an incline bench press by lifting the barbel off of the holders from above your head and moving the barbell in a forward direction to the starting point of the lift? Lifters who aren’t sure about what attachments they want. You can add a ton of variety with the different attachments over time here rather than all at once.

We love both models. The Powertec model is great and if you have your heart set on it then by all means you won’t be disappointed. However, if you think you could reinvest the spare change from the more affordable M200 into a decent bench or some weights, then the smart choice in our eyes is to go with the Mirafit. It allows me to do all the exercises that I need it for, and it keeps me safe while doing them. With the exception of a couple small critiques, everything I have to say is positive about this piece of equipment. Read below for the specifics. Pros: Solid and safe design: Polished steel guide rods; Wide lat pulldown bar and small flat bar; Easy load design; Ring stoppers; Industrial nylon bush carriage system Additional information: Weight load capacity - 136kg/300lbs weight horns, Dimensions (LxWxH) - 76 x 95 x 203 cm (30 x 37.5 x 80”)Anyone who wants a wider cable distance for more of a cable crossover feel. The pulleys are only 48 inches apart making it harder for those with longer arms to do crossover type movements. Some of the most common upgrades are different J-hooks, a lat pulldown, jammer or trolley arms, band pegs, an upgraded pull-up bar, bar holders, and weight plate storage. The options really are only limited by your space and imagination. Full-Body Workouts There are also some attachments such as a pec fly, curl machine and leg curl attachments, although we don’t think these are as worthwhile the investment. The pull up bar is curved: The curved/angled pull up bar makes pull ups feel unnatural. I find it puts may wrists and shoulders in an awkward position. In my opinion, it would be best if Powertec used a straight pull up bar (preferably with hammer/neutral grip handles built in). That said, I can still do pull ups on it, but it’s not ideal. Also, I should mention that some people actually prefer this style of pull up bar, so this may not be a “con” for everyone.
