Partially because of the acting/casting, but primarily because the movie corrected some weaknesses in the plot very effectively. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I think it probably wouldn’t have changed much by reading the book first. The movie starts off portraying him harder than the book does and slowly you see that other side of him…the caring, sensitive side. So, let’s journey back in time and explore the movies that bring the splendor and intrigue of the Roman Empire to life on the silver screen.

What it’s about: Heiress Penelope (Christina Ricci) is under a curse that gives her a pig snout for a nose, and the only way to break the curse is to fall in love. While some scenes were filmed around Landmannalaugar, near the volcano Hekla in South Iceland, an aerial shot captured the spectacular shots of Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall. Maybe it’s because the movie came out the same time I was finishing grad school and moving out on my own but I thought the movie was better than the book.I was linked to this from another blog, and I have to say, I find it very… unreliable when anyone recommends something they haven’t seen yet. I liked reading the Grantchester mysteries by James Runcie, but absolutely adored the BBC miniseries last winter with James Norton and Robson Green. Heads up: there’s some serious nudity, but as my high school teacher would say, it’s nudity with a European sensibility—naked boys jumping in a lake, not at all sexual.

We can’t help but envy Cruise as he sits next to an 800-foot drop to water a plant and admire the view from the top of Jarlhettur mountain. Also great, not as good as 1 but loved the twist, Eric Matthews is a piece of shit, Tobin Bell rocks and this movie immediately showed me why people love him. The third highest grossing Star Wars film was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards. Interesting 🙂 I wrote a blog post recently about whther it’S better to read the book first and wathc the film later, or the other way round. A modern day public wouldn’t be equally charmed so I guess they changed her personality to suit our admiration more?Tom Cruise’s post-apocalyptic science fiction saga may have been shot in various locations across the US but it is the spectacular beauty of Iceland that catches the viewer’s eye. After seeing the movie, Palahniuk himself said, “I was sort of embarrassed of the book, because the movie had streamlined the plot and made it so much more effective and made connections that I had never thought to make. Spiral looks like it is more a side story which I'd prefer over the derivative, pointless shit Jigsaw was, so maybe I'll like that? Washington stars as “Whip” Whittaker, a commercial airline pilot whose quick thinking during a mechanical failure initially makes him a Sully-style hero.
