I do like the female character and she is pretty strong and smart. (The male has potential to be interesting but so far I don’t care for him because of his inconsistency in everything he does.) Only then you can take a boat now found in The Sinkhole and row over to the far side of the arena to reach the Berserker, and defeat him in combat - but be warned, you'll want a power level of around 8 to stand a chance of defeating him.

I'm not sure if I missed discussions or if the info was so briefly discussed that it got lost in everything else going on (esp. when this story is mainly from the FMC's/Aria's POV). Mainly because I've experienced too many unbalanced stories w/ horribly overdramatic characters & scenes. This PNR subgenre can be a beautiful journey, if authored well. Characters make choices that are totally illogical (without a spoiler, example, they have a conversation near the end of the book that should’ve completely changed his thoughts about her family, but instead reinforces his opinions). years prepping for a war and no one ever asked if the other side even knew what was going???? That’s pretty hard to believe. (Early info, not a spoiler.) Not to mention that’s a long time to prep! Legacy of the Nine Realms is a paranormal fantasy series by Amelia Hutchins. The first novel in the series is Flames of Chaos. Aria is the heroine of the series from the Hecate family of witches who is determined to correct the mistakes committed by her ancestors even if it means going to war.We start of with Aria Primrose Hecate of the Hecate witch bloodline arriving in Haven Falls in search of her sister who has gone missing. Here she meets Knox who is hot as all hell but really the worst. He treats her like dirt and while everyone around him falls at his feet she goes toe to toe with the egomaniac. The banter between this pair is amazing and the chemistry sizzling. They both feel this pull to each other and fight it as they completely hate one another. Him because he despises witches especially Hecate and her because of his almost irredeemable downright nasty treatment of her. The Legacy of the Nine Realms series begins with Ashes of Chaos. The story begins after the events of the first book as Aria is looking to create a new House of Magic. She knew about the mess that her family had left, but nothing could’ve prepared her for what awaited her in the Nine Realms. Aria wants to protect those she loves, but how far will she go?

If you are new to Amelia I envy you. You will fall in love and read all the books she has out there. Aria knew she had a huge task of cleaning the family’s mess made in the nine Realms, but she wasn’t ready for the horrors within the realms. Dark magic had taken over the land when Aria found herself in the middle of the war. Aria doesn’t let anyone define, control or shape her to fit their needs or views, and she doesn’t play around or bow to anyone. On the other hand, Knox is a monster in body and never minds doing horrible things as long as he achieves his goal. Chaos Flame 1: The first Chaos Flame is rewarded in Helheim after Kratos takes down the Bridge of the Damned keeper, Mattugr Helson. He is one of the trolls in God of War and has the ability to vanish, as well as spawn orbs that seek out Kratos. Be warned, the 2 mains are not all lovable. You'll experience moments of hating, being annoyed by, sympathizing, & eventually caring for both of them. Yet the storyline works & I truly enjoyed it. I'm immediately starting the next book!

Aria is his sworn enemy but something within her calls to him and he hates himself for craving the fiery kisses that have reignited his cold, dead heart. One taste, and he thought he could get her out of his system. He was wrong. Aria knows Knox is a force that should be fought, and even though she doesn’t know her role in the world, she knows she has to remain strong because Knox isn’t what he seems to be. Knox has an underlying motive for coming to Haven Falls and never thought Aria would show up to challenge his ruling. The last whole Chaos Flame you can obtain is from an optional (and dangerous) challenge that requires you to take on one of the Berserker Gravestones and defeat the formidable Haklangr the Bearded. For how long will Aria escape the man who is always tailing her as her heart struggles to fight the desire for him to claim her? Can Aria break the curse on the Hecate generation and keep her heart safe at the same time? Audiobook editing pet-peeve: Not enough pause between scenes. The written text might have several extra lines of space between scenes to indicate a shift in time/place/POV, but when audiobooks, like this one, do not leave an extended pause in these same places, it creates confusion and makes it difficult to follow. (And I’m not rewinding to listen again while I’m driving or running!)
