About this deal

The back of the television is rather unsightly, with a ribbed casing and protruding sections to house the ports, but it’s likely you’ll be placing it with the back near or against a wall, so they should remain out of sight. Impressively, this TV has very good image processing, which is welcome for Hisense as it used to be a feature reserved for name brands like LG and Sony.

Some of Kubrick’s languorous slow pans can catch the Hisense out when it comes to motion-tracking: there’s a sense of hesitancy that no amount of menu-fiddling can fully eradicate. So it seems obvious that it will look its best when served some native 4K content to display – and that holds true here. Hisense's impressive flagship for 2024, the Hisense 110UX, boasts over 40,000 local dimming zones and an advertised peak brightness of 10,000 nits. If you are using an aerial to watch the inbuilt Freeview channels, change the input source to Digital or DTV to view these channels.

Most notably, this model doesn't have local dimming to enhance its contrast and is dimmer than the more expensive alternative. We measured peak brightness after calibration in the 'Movie' Picture Mode with Backlight at its max and Gamma at '2. for a number of years, as both a features editor and a digital editor, before embarking on a career in freelance consultancy, content creation, and journalism for some of the biggest brands and publications in the world. The Speech mode effectively brings voices and dialogue forward while dulling background noise, while the Theatre mode gives a boost to low, mid, and high frequencies for more impactful audio during TV shows and films. Some of their naming conventions stay the same; the Hisense U8G is also available in the UK but uses a different smart system.

We're not convinced of the 10,000 nit claim, and with the demo content shown at CES, it was nowhere near that level, but it still looks impressive, especially considering the size. Upscaling seems minimal, though, meaning the set can’t quite make full use of the 4K panel’s pixel count for HD sources – and the resulting image isn’t overly crisp. It's also an excellent TV for gaming due to its very good motion handling, so there's very little blur behind fast-moving objects. We tested the 55-inch Hisense R6090G, and we expect our results to be valid for the 43-inch (43R6090G), 50-inch (50R6090G), and 65-inch (65R6090G) models as well. Their ULED TVs mostly use VA panels with a narrow viewing angle, so they aren't good choices for wide seating arrangements.Unlike the Hisense U7K and Hisense U8/U8K, you aren't getting the same high-end features and performance, but it's still quite decent. Plus, it is compatible with both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, with the same DTS advanced audio format support as the more expensive Hisense, making this TV one of the cheapest home entertainment-ready TVs you can get. With four times more pixels than traditional Full HD, Hisense's 4K Ultra HD resolution is the benchmark for stunningly realistic picture quality and pin-sharp clarity. It also has fantastic peak brightness in HDR, and thanks to its impressive local dimming feature, blacks look dark, inky, and uniform in a dark room, and bright highlights stand out incredibly well. However, the plain black design and silver rim is unobtrusive enough that we weren’t thinking about this much.

These TVs offer stunning 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840x2160) and come with a range of features such as True HDMI and USB connectivity, Smart TV capabilities, and HDR support. Still, this compares favourably with Philips, which wants you to invest the best part of your day in setting up your TV. Hitting the asterix (*) button on the remote during TV viewing will bring up sound and picture settings in a neat sidebar that doesn’t interrupt the action on-screen – we’ll run through the specifics of those settings in the sections below. It doesn't have voice control but you can use the voice control feature in the Roku app on your mobile device. Update 02/25/2021: We retested SDR peak brightness after measuring the HDR peak brightness in Game mode.Argos Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as a credit broker (713206), and works exclusively with the lender, Home Retail Group Card Services Limited trading as Argos Card and Argos Financial Services, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide credit (716148). If you want to use it as a computer monitor and for it to display chroma 4:4:4, you just need to enable Game Mode. Responsive, no lagging, no crashing, has all the apps and services you could ever want including the less common NowTV and Disney+ apps. Hisense has redesigned their remote several times over the past few years, with a major overhaul in 2021. My main TV is a Panasonic OLED which is superb - amazing picture, great sound, looks and feels expensive.
