About this deal

Joseph meets Siobhan, and they fall in love (eventually). Siobhan is a life coach, and one of her clients is Richard, a sleazy lawyer who has a thing for her. He stalks her as she is heading for a Valentine's date with Joseph. As she's running from Richard, she gets hits by a motorbike and dies in front of Joseph. He's traumatized. The three romances are on different timelines (the Valentine’s Day no-shows all occur in different years – 2015, 2018 and 2019, IIRC), though the misdirection really tries to make the reader believe that they are simultaneous. For instance there is a scene with heroine #2 directly after a scene with heroine #1 in which heroine #2 finds a receipt for breakfast for two that seems like evidence of cheating – Joseph had had breakfast with heroine #1 in the previous scene. But they actually occur in completely different years and Joseph’s reason for hiding the fact that he wasn’t alone at breakfast has a reasonable explanation. FURTHER SPOILER The No Showis O’Leary’s savviest book to date (and dare I say her best), and although it’s not quite as ‘cosy’ as The Switch, it’s equally as heartwarming and joyful. Kudos to O’Leary for her meticulous plotting too. This is the most satisfying conclusion I’ve read in a long time and a wonderfully original take on the romance novel. My advice? Go into it blindly, and avoid spoilers because when you get to the plot twist you will launch your book across the room. Ladies and Gentlemen, Her!

I found this to be the most emotionally written of Beth's books, one that leaves an impact on your mind. I cannot recommend it enough; it is bursting with feeling * The Belfast Telegraph * Then there is Joseph. He seems to be a lying, womanizing, cheating bastard, but there is more to him than meets the eye. He grew on me in the end. Three women are jilted by Joseph on Valentine’s Day. It seems like Joseph is a cad, but there is SO much more going on than it seems.I really cannot say more because I do not want to risk spoiling anything in the story. I don't think of this as a romcom but more as a romantic mystery, which suits me well. Once I started the book I was invested in figuring out how this story would progress and how the women and this one man would get through life. Surely Joseph can't get away with whatever he's doing, can he? How sustainable is this situation? The story pulled my emotions every which way. None of these women deserved to be hurt and it was so hard to understand the why of Joseph's actions. The story is so good and I'm thankful for an ending that left me very satisfied. Is there more to him than meets the eye? Where was he on Valentine’s Day? And will they each untangle the truth before they all get their hearts broken? This is just because of my personal preferences and its a good audiobook and i love the plot itself but ya i think for first reading the book itself is better than audio as some features can break the experience (at least for me) but its good for rereaaading as this book should be read more than once Told through the eyes of Jane, Miranda, and Siobhan, the reader experiences their heartbreak at being stood up by Joseph on Valentine’s day. As a result, the three go on very different journeys of love, loss, and self-acceptance. I loved all of their stories. O’Leary writes about women who are healing from abuse, both work and personal, exceptionally well. Each of the women resonated with me in how they exhibited a different common dynamic of the past couple of years—Siobhan’s overwork causes her to burnout, Jane is rebuilding her sense of self after a toxic work situation, and Miranda is learning to trust her strength and beauty, because she isn’t sure if she’s posh enough for Joseph. In each case, the women’s relationships with Joseph help them grow and heal, even if they don’t end up with him at the end. It might have been the mystery of how Joseph was going to get caught that kept me reading, but it was spending time with Siobhan, Miranda and Jane’s journey that made me enjoy the book along the way.

Even as it taps beautifully into emotions and experiences that feel so universal, The No-Show is fresh, surprising and oh-so clever. It made me laugh, brought me to tears, and kept me reading late into the night. It’s the kind of book that leaves an impression on your heart. A truly special read.”—Holly Miller, author of The Sight of You An unexpected love story, The No-Show is an utterly extraordinary tear-jearker of a book, a heart-breaking and joyful novel about dating, and waiting, and the ways love can find us. And, yes, all three, of our very different, unique and lovely women in this story have ALL been stood up by the same man-On Valentine’s Day! Jane: A quiet wounded soul. She is working at a store as a volunteer. She is not saying where she got the money to rent a place or what happened when she was living in London.I initially found the story quite dull and slow to be honest and only carried on listening because I enjoyed the author’s previous books. I think it improves but the story and some of the characters are not developed enough. And the repeated descriptors of Joseph by the different leads gets really boring and unbelievable. Based on how the story plays out and connects all the women how is this character so dull. The best way to enjoy this story it to go into it blindly, which is what I did. I'm so glad I didn't know the big twist and this is one of the rare times that I didn't figure it out until it was served to me on a platter, towards the end of the story. The twist changed my perspective on everything that had happened earlier in the book.

Siobhan's been looking forward to her breakfast date with Joseph. She was surprised when he suggested it - she normally sees him late at night in her hotel room. Breakfast with Joseph on Valentine's Day surely means something...so where is he? This story begins to be quite confusing, although, approximately halfway through the book, it starts to make sense. not discovering that the person i'm dating is three-timing me, but dating three people at once. sounds like too much work.Equal parts rom-com and mystery, this unexpected story about the power of second chances will have you swooning and crying.”—E!
