About this deal

Regarding Homosalate's safety profile, we do not have the best news. In-vitro (made in the labs) studies have shown that it might have some estrogenic activity. Do not panic, these studies were not conducted on real humans under real world conditions. Still, if you are a 'better safe than sorry' type, be careful when using Homosalate containing sunscreens long-term and full-body. Normal (well kind of - it's purified and deionized) water. Usually the main solvent in cosmetic products.

About

The only UVA and UVB filter present is Titanium Dioxide (11th ingredient), which is a better UVB filter than UVA filter. The generic term for nice smelling stuff put into cosmetic products so that the end product also smells nice. It is made up of 30 to 50 chemicals on average.

Thank You Farmer Sun Project Shimmer Sun Essence SPF30

Cellulose is an important component of the cell walls of green plants and it's the most abundant natural polymer (big molecule from repeated subunits)on Earth. If the polymer structure is not too big (less than 200 repeated units), cellulose becomesmicrocrystalline cellulose. You may recognize Iope for its retinol or cushion compact but here's your reminder to not sleep on the UV Defense Sun Protector EX SPF 39. What sets this sunscreen apart is its Micro Filter formula, which forms a protective barrier over your skin and prevents fine dust from settling. If you're an urbanite who is frequently exposed to harmful air pollution levels, scoop this up. No harmful chemicals are present and the product’s SPF is at least 30. (The harmful chemicals that I look for are BHT, parabens, formaldehyde releasing preservatives and Oxybenzone. 3) What UVA and UVB sunscreen filters are present? A clear, oil-soluble, "cosmetically-elegant" liquid that is the most commonly used chemical sunscreen. It absorbs UVB radiation (at wavelengths: 280-320 nm) with a peak protection at 310nm. Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product. A smaller version of the natural, cell-wall building polymer cellulose. Mostly used as a mattifier or a helper ingredient that improves the skin feel of the formula.

If you have spottedethylhexylglycerinon the ingredient list, most probably you will see there also the current IT-preservative, phenoxyethanol. They are good friends becauseethylhexylglycerincan boost the effectiveness of phenoxyethanol (and other preservatives) and as an added bonus it feels nice on the skin too. DHHB is a new style filter that is photostable, has a large molecular size and therefore does not penetrate the skin. It does not need to be present in high percentage quantities to give effective protection. For the record, my skin type is dry dehydrated. So I expect all my sunscreens to leave my skin moisturized with a dewy finish. Bonus points if there is no white cast. With that being said, I’m gonna be judging this sunscreen based on how well it worked for my skin type. ProsWATER, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, HOMOSALATE, ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE, DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYLBENZOATE, OCTOCRYLENE, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CYCLOMETHICONE, ALCOHOL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, PEG-100 STEARATE, SODIUM ACRYLATE/SODIUMACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, PHENOXYETHANOL, ISOHEXADECANE, ALUMINUM STEARATE, POLYHYDROXYSTEARIC ACID, PROPANEDIOL, OCTYLDODECANOL, FRAGRANCE, XANTHAN GUM, POLYSORBATE 80, BAMBUSA VULGARIS WATER, ALUMINA, ECHIUM PLANTAGINEUM SEED OIL, VISCUM ALBUM (MISTLETOE) LEAF EXTRACT, GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) LIPIDS, CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT, SODIUM HYALURONATE, PORTULACA OLERACEA EXTRACT, You'll notice PA next to SPF in many of the product names below. While SPF focuses on UVB light ( which burns skin) and measures how protected you are from sunburn, PA is all about UVA light (which visibly ages us) and your protection from developing pigmentation, says Zion Ko Lamm, MD, a Charlotte-based internal medicine doctor who combines Korean skin care with wellness. She equates PA+++ to SPF 30 and recommends seeking out sunscreens with a minimum of each. An oil-soluble chemical sunscreen agent that protects the skin from UVB (295-315 nm) with a peak protection at 306 nm. Homosalate is not a strong UV filter in and of itself (gives only SPF 4.3 protection at max. allowed 10% concentration) and it is not photostable (looses 10% of its SPF protection in 45 mins) so it alwayshas to be combined with other sunscreens for properprotection. Its big advantage, though, is that it is a liquid and is excellent for dissolving other hard to solubilizepowder sunscreen agents, like the famous Avobenzone.
