I believe he actually deluded himself into thinking he and the Witness were equals. Equal thinkers, equal leaders, equal philosophers and visionaries. He certainly did not see himself as a slave, which is what he actually ended up becoming. We know that Neomuna’s citizens have been uploaded to a simulation for their own safety - leaving behind the gold remnants seen throughout the city, which I could very well see having fragments of thought or memory play on our comms if they are Patrol Markers like the Phantoms - but I think that similarly to Silence in the Library there will be narrative elements of what it is like to be in that state and an urgent goal of the Cloudstriders, and by extension us, to make things safe enough for them to return.On the right side these seem to be pointing towards a planet, creating an explosion. Again, the Collapse in action At the bottom we see two zombie Guardians, wreathed in flames, likely threatening the Neomunan citizens. The Chronicon may be a funny lore book that we can all laugh at due to how absurd it is, but I think it gives us a window into Calus's tendencies to dream and fantasize and separate himself from reality.

An Imperial Summons is the first quest in Destiny 2: Season of Opulence. This questline has you completing tasks to appease Emperor Calus. The majority of this quest is simply titled “The Invitation” though it consists of various activities. The primary goal in the Royal Pool is to destroy the nine purple censers that are in the middle room. The censers are separated into groups of three and are all protected by a shield that must be lowered if you hope to deliver any damage. Also in the middle room is a plate with an orb on it. When collected, this orb will provide Psionic Protection for 50 seconds, and the orb in the middle room will continue to respawn every few seconds. To begin the fight, split your team into two groups. One team will consist of two members who are good at killing things. These will be what we call your Standard seekers. The sescond group will consist of the remaining four fireteam members and they will be your Standard defenders.After defeating Nightmare of Gahlran, Sorrow Bearer you can collect your reward from the chest and drop down the hole in the ground. Use the lever to extend tombs in the chasm. In the large room, climb up the rafters to the very top to spot another bell high above the first one. Stand on the rafters to be teleported to a safe spot in the mindscape. First, use the bell to travel to the shadow realm. You and your fireteam are looking for two Standard Bearers, who will be in two of the four rooms attached to the long arena. (If the room has Cabal dogs in it, that’s a dead giveaway that the Standard Bearer is near.) Send two players to each look for a Standard Bearer and send the third player to kill the Bellkeepers, who will be at the other end of the arena from where you teleported in (the bell to return you home will be unusable until both Bellkeepers are dead).
