About this deal

The growth Auren has gone through actually just makes me want to cry because it's so beautiful and amazing. Someone who would eventually figure out Auren and King Midas' relationship was not all sunshine and roses but blackmail, abuse and deceit. Mist says Midas will officially recognise her baby as his, so it’ll be king or queen when it grows up.

The romance between Auren and Rip was one of the better things and I was consider rounding up to 3 stars, because I do like Rip as a character, but the more I think about this book the more disappointed I feel so nope. I’m now in a strange kingdom surrounded by liars, with no allies of my own, but I won’t sit idly by and let myself wither. ce tome est censé être le meilleur et encore une fois c’est juste la version Lidl de ACOMAF, les ressemblances sont trop présentes. Locking her up in the dungeon, drugging her, or threatening her (with personal harm or harm of someone she loves).

It's really telling how I like the romance but still can't give this bok 3 stars, that's how much the rest sucks. I can't even believe the depth of some of the topics (mental health, abuse) but Raven Kennedy managed to create a wonderful book that went into most of that with such ease and navigational skills. There is more political scheming in this book as Auren is back under Midas' control in Fifth's palace, where King Ravenger of the Fourth, and the Queen of the Third Kingdom are also staying for a while.

This was such a gripping and intense book and the action and cliffhanger at the end was just awesome! I love it when the characters look like they could kill you, will actually kill you, but are also cinnamon rolls. In this book we learn a lot about Auren’s past before Midas “saved” her and the brutality of it definitely helps the reader to understand why she feels so grateful to Midas, why she feels like she owes him so much and why she feels protected, even as she feels suffocated. But then I thought, in a sea full of 5 stars, the 1 and 2 stars for this book must feel pretty lonely and I'm all about getting justice for all ratings 😌 so here we are: the lower ratings shouldn't feel discriminate. But when political upheaval sees me sent across kingdoms to a future I no longer understand, everything I thought I knew about King Midas is shattered . I figure the my biggest issue was that Auren was back with Midas and I hate that guy with a passion.

Overall, a great continuation in the series (my favourite so far) and I will move on to ‘Glow’ next before I have to wait 6 months for ‘Gold’ to be released.

Why are the only two women in power (in terms of the institution/system of government) the villains. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. I had no idea that I’d be so invested in this series when I started and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I understand toxic and abusive relationships and maybe if this had actually been written with any ounce of effort it could show that but it just shows a weak and powerless man abusing an extremely powerful woman for NO REASON. Regret and revenge war inside of me, and I need to figure out a plan fast before I get tangled up in the schemes of kings and queens.

The fact that everything is gonna go to shit in the next book because of all the loose ends makes me mad. I don't regret reading many books, not even the 1 star books, because at least with those, I can fully rant and purge the negativity. She's an interesting character and having her POV once again really make the similarities and differences between her and Auren stand out. She is indecisive at first, but as the book progresses, we can see her resolve to leave Midas behind strengthening and it felt so good to see her stand for herself. This adventure is all about getting out of an abusive relationship and learning to choose yourself and it feels good to see Auren finally having some good in her life.

I have fought the terrifying Red Raid Pirates, endured the murder of those I care about, and survived the frozen planes of Orea, only to find myself a prisoner of the army of Fourth Kingdom. Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed. He’s manipulating her into corners, forcing her to bend to him by guilt tripping and threats and when he realises that his placating and soft and kind words don’t work on Auren anymore…. While the first part of this book will probably seems slow for some readers, there's a reason behind it. Auren's character arc is once again very well-written: although she now feels betrayed by Midas, she has to fight old reactions in his presence.
