About this deal

If you like your movies dark, then this one is for you. Warner’s 2.39:1 HEVC 4K image does a great job of utilizing HDR for a nice, balanced look and feel. And that’s good, as there isn’t a shade of blue in the film. Faces covered in blood, green skin and ugly teeth – if this is something that gets you going, then you’ll be right at home. Detail is sharp, contrast strong and with it being a new film we know what to expect. And it does deliver. I just wish the content behind this nice-looking image had a little more substance. Audio: How’s it sound? described as extremely difficult source material. (Just imagine watching this kind of movie on DVD or SD/HD streaming platforms -- it'd be a

hole in their apartment building's parking garage. The curious Danny crawls in to explore and finds an abandoned vault will all sorts of relics inside, highest levels. From start to finish, it's an effectively merciless mix that's rendered faithfully to bring a theater-grade audio experience home.Small portions of Evil Dead Rise keep it from achieving greater success. Garden-variety horror clichés are on board, such as a few proper bleakness without letting anything important get lost in the shadows. And while these 1080p/SDR screenshots don't convey an accurate Shot digitally on the ubiquitous Arri Alexa Mini LF and a 4.5K native image to produce it’s 4K Digital intermediate from, this release from Studiocanal has a fantastically solid foundation. It produces a native 3840 x 2160p resolution image in a theatrically accurate 2.39:1 aspect ratio that also utilises 10-bit video depth, WCG and HDR10 only, all of which has been encoded using the HEVC/H.265 video codec. In Evil Dead Rise, the action moves out of the woods and into the city, and tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sullivan and Sutherland, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.

Evil Dead Rise does a number of things extremely well once its oddball opener is out of the way, not the least of which is its overall mood appearance of what you'll see on a properly-calibrated 4K/HDR setup, rest assured that Warner Bros.' From here, survival is the word as demonic possession, decapitations, bodily dismemberment, and more gory murders are seen. And if anyone knows how gross the Evil Dead franchise can be in terms of blood, guts, flesh, and muscle - there is no shortage of any of those things on display in Evil Dead Rise. The family dynamic and the three kids are all enjoyable to watch and are not the usual comedic tropes. They all have something a little different to their characters. Things that seem more natural and realistic in this day and age. The gore is practical and fantastic, which will delight the horror hounds completely, and there is never a shortage of it. Trouble has long been brewing for this unconventional family unit, and now you can go ahead and add "supernatural entity hell-bent on death and Cronin's Evil Dead Rise is more of a spiritual continuation to the long-running franchise than a new sequel, one that required no deep

levels of crush or blooming, while adjacent colors also "pop out" nicely thanks to its careful HDR grading. This isn't one of the more showy uses of highEvil Dead Risecomes to 4K with a 2160p UHD 4K transfer with HDR enhancement. This is a visually stylized movie with many dark contrasts and low lighting levels to perfect that haunted and demonic look. It succeeds in those arenas where other movies might fail. Seems like all the latest entries of beloved horror franchises are taking a holiday. A trip away from home to recharge the batteries if you will. And with Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead being at home in those woods, there’s only one place to head for a break…the city. And so Lee Cronin’s fifth entry starts off exactly where you would expect it – in a cabin. In the woods. And its one of his few stumbles in an otherwise brilliantly propulsive, claustrophobic and brilliantly bloody take on the classic Deadites. While there’s nothing wrong per se with the cold open here – it feels VERY Sam Raimi both in terms of its execution and its unbridled glee at the bodily carnage being meted out - it’s a clunky plot beat that actually bears no real link to the main story. While obviously a clear nod to Deadites past, it feels too much like a safety blanket, almost as unsure as some of its audience in the upcoming change of scenery and it contributes to the film’s only real issue – it’s pacing in the first act. could argue that it doesn't help us care about the affected family, but I'd argue that wouldn't have helped much.) Viewers will feel an uncanny In 1981 Director Sam Raimi essentially created a genre of film – the horror movie…with a comedic twist. This genre has been played out, but films like the original Evil Dead movies, An American Werewolf in London and so on – all embraced it. Fans of Raimi’s Evil Dead films no doubt know the excitement of watching the hero as he battles the forces of evil – with a chainsaw for a hand. But those films had their time and with 1993’s Army of Darkness, it might be argued that these came to an end. But no, thank you Hollywood, you’ll never let anything die and we got a new chapter in 2013 as well as a television series. And now we’ve got Evil Dead Rise, a film that shares the same name as the aforementioned titles but…that’s about it. Was it worth the wait? Is it more of the same? Or is this just yet another excuse to cash in on an already overdone genre with a familiar title?

The tattoo artist's money isn't rolling in, which is where the kids try and make any money they can to help out. Ellie's sister Beth comes to visit when an earthquake rattles Los Angeles and creates a hole underneath their high-rise. One of the children explores the hole and finds a crusty old book, some ancient artifacts, and some records, which of course, invite the horror to come. artist Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) and her three kids, aspiring DJ Danny (Morgan Davies); sarcastic Bridget (Gabrielle Echols), who's one buzz cutThat native image lets us have some really sharp details, with even the finest of textures clearly visible, even through the gloom of the apartment. The intricacy of the make-up – especially in the eyes – is perfectly captured, as is the viscera of the corpses, both the live ones and the dead ones, the darkness of the setting not handicapping the sense of detail in any way.
