About this deal

The two other songs sung in the play are the drinking songs in Act 2 Scene 3. [316] The first of these, "And Let Me The Cannikin Clink", has no surviving arrangement, although it fits to several extant popular tunes. [317] The other, "King Stephen Was a Worthy Peer", is the seventh of the eight stanzas of the existing ballad "Take Thy Old Cloak About Thee". Wells, Stanley (ed.) "Oxford Shakespeare Topics: Shakespeare in the Theatre– An Anthology of Criticism", Oxford University Press, 2000, pp.112–113. Iago refuses to explain his motives, vowing to remain silent from that moment on. Lodovico apprehends both Iago and Othello for the murders of Roderigo, Emilia, and Desdemona, but Othello commits suicide. Lodovico appoints Cassio as Othello's successor and exhorts him to punish Iago justly. He then denounces Iago for his actions and leaves to tell the others what has happened. KennethBranagh has had great success with his own films of Shakespeare ("HenryV" and " Much Ado About Nothing"). He is currently at work on a"Hamlet" that will star Robin Williams and Billy Crystal - asRosencranz and Guildenstern, I hope, not Hamlet and Polonius. He has toured inShakespeare and is a master of the cadence of the words, so his ease in thedialogue acts as a contrast to the others.

A common beginner mistake is to try to get as many discs as possible from the beginning. This is not a good strategy in Othello. A better strategy is to focus on limiting your opponent's options, while having many possible moves yourself. This is usually easier to achieve by having fewer discs. In the example below, White, with only one disc, can easily win the game in four moves. A Japanese publication in 1907 titled World Games Rules Complete Collection (世界遊戯法大全) describes the board game Reversi with the same rules as Othello where the first four pieces go in the center in a diagonal pattern and the player who cannot make a move simply passes.
