Three tests are inportant to check for glaucoma: ophthalmoscopy, tonometry and perimetry - you should ask for all three. You may quality for a free sight test - if you have a close relative with glaucoma. Close relatives of those with primary open angle glaucoma ("POAG") are 4 times more likely to develop glaucoma. You should advise them that you have the condition as they will then be more likely to get their eyes tested. Many patients with normal vision do no go to their optician to get checked - yet they are still at risk of glaucoma.
