About this deal

But it hasn't all been smooth sailing over the last 30 years and Dec admitted he wanted to "punch and hug" Ant when he heard he had been arrested for drink-driving in 2018.

And as another Chinese proverb says, 'If you've been in a double act with your best mate for thirty years, why not write a book about all your most memorable moments in three decades of showbusiness?' In 2015, Ant was prescribed painkillers for botched surgery on his knee. Over the next two years, he became dependent on the drugs and on alcohol. In 2017, he entered rehab to deal with his addictions, and returned to work in the November. Ant and Dec came together to create a new show about their ancestors and to find out where they both came from. The programme was made over two years and Ant and Dec journeyed to places such as Ireland and United States of America. The most amazing part of their DNA journey was that they actually found out that they were in fact distant relations of each other! This audiobook is just brilliant, the PDF photo book to accompany the storytelling is a wonderful touch and the nice surprising at the end of them reading this superbly written book is what really made me laugh. This book was so much fun to listen to. With Ant and Dec narrating the audio book there really wasn't any other way I would read this to be honest. It just added a depth of sincerity, fun and what comes through both in the words spoken and in the way they are spoken that there is such a great friendship there. In 2012 Ant and Dec performed with Sir Bruce Forsyth at the NTAs (the National Television Awards in the UK). Both Ant and Dec were in awe of Sir Bruce Forsyth and dancing on stage with Sir Bruce Forsyth was one today the many highlights of Ant and Dec’s career in the last 30 years.

In the first Pop Idol series, Will Young won and Gareth Gates was second. In the second, and final, series Michelle McManus won.It didn't shy away from the difficulties and the hardships because at the end of the day, they're just two boys from Newcastle who made it big. Dec said: “Childhood Day next year is going to be even better and we’re thrilled that through the launch of Propa Happy we can encourage children and grown-ups across the UK to come together to fundraise on June the 10th and do their bit for children.” Dropped a point as it was fairly short, and I'm sure in 30 years they could have delved further into several stories. The plus side of that is that it remained throughout fast paced and unrelenting. From their modest beginnings in Byker Grove through to their 'unique' time as pop stars and an award-laden TV career, those three decades have flown by in the blink of an eye. They've also featured an incredible cast of supporting characters, including their first scriptwriter - (an unknown comedian called David Walliams), Saturday night fun and games with countless Hollywood A-listers and celebrities they torture - sorry, work with - every year in the jungle. Told through the lens of every TV show they've made, as well as everything they've learnt along the way, this is the riotously funny journey of two ordinary lads from Newcastle who went on to achieve extraordinary things. I couldn't suggest an audiobook version of this more. Their laughter is so contagious and I don't think i've laughed out loud during a book so much before.

Speaking in a candid interview with Guardian's Weekend magazine Dec said: “It felt like a nightmare, that there’d been a mistake. ‘Of course he didn’t do that.’” Using their Byker Grove character names, Ant and Dec became PJ and Duncan — the popstars. They were approached to ask to sing and become popstars by Telstar. We had a heart-to-heart. I said, ‘Look, forget everything – TV, the partnership – you’ve just got to go and get well.’ But no less true. And after three decades together, we're writing that book. Covering everything from a pirate radio storyline in Byker Grove through to the biggest shows on telly, this is our story. The pair then released the single “Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble” under their character names PJ & Duncan before settling on a career in TV presenting. I was binge-watching Chatty Man, Graham Norton show, Friday night with Jonathan Ross and yes, BGT (don't ask, I'm just really in the brit-show phase right now), and I was drawn to these people who are always making people laugh; David Walliams and Ant&Dec most especially. I think I've watched all the interviews with them on youtube and I bought and finished Camp David last week (I'm still thinking if I'll do a review on that one, it's just so sad). I found Ant and Dec’s autobiography called ‘Ant and Dec — Once Upon A Tyne — Our Story Celebrating 30 Years Together On Telly’ a really good read. I’ve effectively ‘grown up’ with Ant and Dec, from watching them act on TV in their ‘Byker Grove’ days, through to their TV presenting on various shows to this day. I recommend this book as it tells about the unique story of a couple of lads from Newcastle, UK who became best friends and business partners, and about their unique friendship. THAT incident is mentioned - briefly and simply as the time Ant wasn't on TV. I certainly didn't expect gory details to be raked over, but it might have been interesting to hear more about how Dec had to pivot his entire career pretty much instantly to keep three of the nations biggest shows on air solo for the first time, especially in a book about your time on TV. A very fun listen. They're obviously an electric duo and it was a joy to listen to their story from themselves. The plot was entertaining and funny, as would be expected.

It is interesting to hear how they both have developed and changed individually over the years. But despite the success, they remain humble and I think that's what made me admire them more. I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ Has been on ITV in Britain every year since it started in 2002, and a couple of years had two series per year, namely two series in 2004. In December 2001 Ant and Dec decided to leave ‘SMTV: Live’ and ‘CD:UK’ for pastures new — Saturday Night TV. In this chapter Ant and Dec talk about meeting various members of the British Royal Family at various moments in their career, and particularly HRH Prince Charles. Ant and Dec first met HRH Prince Charles in 2001, where they interviewed him about the 25th anniversary of ‘The Prince’s Trust’. Other memorable times Ant and Dec have met members of the British Royal Family are in 2006, 2015 (for The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations), and in 2017 (when Ant and Dec received their OBEs). Don't get me wrong, it's mildly entertaining but you won't learn much - it's like an evening with Ant and Dec, where they wheel out plenty of tried and true anecdotes you probably have heard before if you're a longtime fan - especially if you read their 2009 autobiography.PJ and Duncan had other chart hits including ‘U Krazy Katz’ and ‘Stepping Stone’ among others. However, a few years later they changed musical direction. In 1997 they changed their duo name from ‘PJ and Duncan‘ to ‘Ant and Dec’, which are their real names. As ‘Ant and Dec’ they had a few more songs out like ‘Shout’, but it was a short lived career move. After 3 albums they decided enough was enough as they didn’t enjoy the popstar experience and they couldn’t write songs. Ant and Dec agreed to quit their popstar life. Anthony David "Ant" McPartlin OBE (born 18 November 1975) is a British television presenter, TV producer, singer, comedian and actor. He is best known for working alongside Declan Donnelly as part of the presenting duo Ant & Dec. McPartlin came to prominence, alongside Donnelly, in the children's drama series Byker Grove, with both of the boys establishing successful careers as television presenters, in which they are most known for presenting SMTV Live (between 1998 and 2001), I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (since 2002), and Britain's Got Talent (since 2007). All of Ant and Dec’s author proceeds from the book will be donated to the NSPCC to support their lifechanging work protecting children. Ant and Dec came together again with Simon Cowell, who wanted them to present another TV talent show for ITV. This time the talent would be of various acts — from magicians, to singers, to choirs to comedians, and other types of variety acts — that Britain, and the world, had to offer. ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ was created in 2007 and has been on TV in the UK every year since. Some acts come from other parts of the world just to go onto the UK version, rather than their own country’s version!
