The Bluetooth Remote Shutter connects via bluetooth to your iOS and Android devices enabling you to control your devices shutter release and capture pictures from upto 30 feet away. While I have come to the conclusion that there is no way to keep the device active that fits within our requirements, Mohamed's answer got me furthest down a path for an acceptable solution. If I open the camera manually it will work as a shutter button, it just will not open the app like it use to. There is a workaround with implementing a bash script that uses bluetoothctl to connect to the Bluetooth remote control, but it just does not make sense to me why Python cannot make this connection and retrieve information. Open your camera application on your phone just as you always do when you are about to take a picture.
