I feel like this book could have benefited from a longer build up, it would have made more sense for what happens towards the end.

There was no nest building, no real 'out of mind' experience, again it was glossed over but usually heat is kinda long and crazy and this was just like pretty normal smut (besides the slick and knotting lol). In addition, while the prose flowed and contained great detailed descriptions (the prologue was particularly visceral), the number of unclear pronoun references meant that I had to read some sections twice. While Erik's true motivation is unsurprising and I don't entirely agree with the book's central message, I did like the characters: two broken souls who found solace, empathy, and understanding in each other.
