About this deal

All the while, Mascis' army of guitars is placed in service of his breaking heart, and the sound is majestic and moving. For those of you who know what I'm referring to, the amazing 10 min live version of "What else is new," from the Japanese "Feel the Pain" live EP is included. With his fondness for extended guitar-play, his country-soaked rock crunch, his cracked and sweet vocals, Where You Been identified Mascis as hewn from the same stone as Neil Young before him.

And it's also got possibly the most consistently great collection of tracks on any DJ album, with the exception of possibly Bug and Green Mind. Their first three albums had stirred hardcore, psychedelia, noise, country and metal into a blurry and glorious mess of sludge-pop, switching from melody to noise with the stomp of a pedal. Following the legendarily acrimonious bust-up between singer/guitarist J Mascis and bassist/singer Lou Barlow, Dinosaur Jr. Released to unanimously positive reviews, and containing many tracks that would become staples and fan favourites, ‘Where You Been’ continued Dinosaur Jr’s global ascent, being issued simultaneously across the US, Europe, Australasia, Asia and South America. s greatest commercial success up to that point, reaching number 50 in the US and number 10 in the UK.He wrote that the song "I Ain't Sayin", with "its canyon-filling bookending riff to its appealing shuffle and its heartwarming “rolling home to you” chorus [.

That pressing is very crisp - great articulation between vocals, guitars and drums - where as this pressing seems a bit muffled.

Out There opened the album with enough overdriven squalling and riffing to excite the teens in the Pearl Jam t-shirts, but Where You Been’s charms lay more in the lazy melodic drawl of Mascis’ songcraft: the lilting Start Choppin’, the breezy What Else Is New?
