As we get older, many of us stop keeping diaries, and some of us go on to the adult version -- journaling. The worldbuilding was decent again, and this book features the largest number of “scene-setting” newspaper articles that show the mirroring of our world to theirs in an intelligent way, which I always appreciate.

It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service. That being said, I do actually think the plot wrapped up as well as could be expected in this book, and I also thought that there were some scenes that were truly great. I am happy with Libby's ending, the fact that she finally got a loving and stable family to live in, much needed after her traumatic childhood. It was distinctly eerie how the reports mirrored current affairs and I enjoyed this as it highlighted the problems of racism within our own society as well as Albion’s. I know that's an intentional part of the mystery, but this extended beyond that with his (and other characters') weird book-to-book development.A satisfying conclusion to the Noughts and Crosses saga, Endgame ties up everything that had been left open in the previous book.

It felt right to hear Sephy's voice again, as a matured adult, navigating the world with her two children, love interests, and criminal threats from the underworld. I can’t really fault this book, or any of Blackman’s for that matter: the only thing I wished is that more books will come, but that’s not going to happen. Bringing Malorie Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses series to its breath-taking conclusion, Endgame no longer leaves the reader on a cliff-hanger at the end. I guessed one of the twists at the very beginning, and even when surprising things happened, they felt exhausting more than anything. The stakes of this should have been a lot bigger, but the logic of how the characters responded to this situation ranged from passive to downright ridiculous.

This final book in Blackman’s Noughts and Crosses series, picks up right where the previous book, Crossfire, left off with its high-tension cliff-hanger.But I felt like I'd been hoping for something great and all I got was an average crime novel, one which just happened to be set in a world I know and love from previous books. The ending left me with more questions than answers and as someone who loved these books as a teenager, my expectations may have been too high for this book and I was sadly disappointed by the ending. good stuff even if Blackman didn't totally hit the nail on the head for the type of emotive writing which would truly gut me. The way racism is weaved throughout these books is so cleverly done, and I admire how there are aspects of this book that reflected events of even the past few years.

However, Endgame had so much (sometimes too much) going on, these articles actually slowed the story down a considerable bit. At the end of the last book in this series, I was in disbelief at how long Blackman had managed to keep particular storylines running without it feeling boring or like it was dragging on too long. There are too many viewpoints, and far too many from the perspectives of people you don’t care about.I am truly sad to be leaving the world of noughts and crosses behind - for anyone debating whether to pick up this series and see it through to the end, please please do! All of the plot points lead towards a traumatic and dramatic conclusion, but this was one of the few times I had to backtrack with a book because so much was going on.
