About this deal

Dual Band 5GHz Mini Wireless Network USB Wifi Adapter for PC Desktop Laptop, Support Windows 11/10/8/7/Vista/XP, Mac Os X 10. Focktech AC600 600Mbps Driver - Focktech AC600 600Mbps driver is a software component that allows the operating system to communicate with Focktech AC600 600Mbps Wifi Adapter. with this repo I managed to install the drivers that my Foktech AC600 dongle needed for it work on Ubuntu 18.

The only suggestion I can offer, if you have not done so already, would be to update both the wifi and bluetooth drivers to their latest versions, and restart the PC. The driver on the CD that came with the dongle is likely a windows only driver and won't work in linux. You *SHOULDN'T* (maybe) have to run that install shell script, but since it's on CD-ROM, you obviously won't be able to change anything on it. By using the AC600 USB WiFI dongle, you can upgrade your PC,laptop or Mac to work with the latest AC WiFi router for faster speed and extended range. After the driver is installed, you can use the built-in wireless utility in your operating system to connect to a wireless network.

I have had a little look around and while I have a very vague idea of what to look for it seems there isn't much visible support for this hardware on linux. Usual checks are done - wifi is enabled, works with ethernet but no option to select the home wifi network. I bought a Foktech AC600 USB wifi dongle (linux compatible apparently) so I could connect my rasberry pie to my network. You connect the single antenna to the wifi card's Main antenna terminal and the wifi should work just fine, but since you don't have two wifi antenna cables, the Bluetooth will not have enough reception to work properly if at all.

If your notebook is still under warranty, I suggest that you contact HP technical support and submit a support case under the warranty. If your modem is not correctly positioned, you will not obtain a decent signal, which is something you do not want. Using it, you can update drivers, take a backup of old drivers, exclude incompatible drivers, and even schedule driver updates. Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.
