The distillery was closed in 1999, reopening in 2013 after the new owner, Pernod Ricard, added a mash tun and washbacks.
One of Scotland’s newer distilleries, Glen Keith has built up a solid pedigree since its inception in 1957. On opening it, I discovered that it has a lovely fruity, almost caramel smell, reminiscent a bit of a fruit cake, and it was really smooth and almost creamy on the palette.
Glen Keith do produce their own single malt, but their whisky is also used in the Chivas Regal and 100 Pipers blended whiskies. Single Cask Whisky is unique in that it is a snapshot of the distillery on one day of production and the type of cask it has been matured in.
