Get lost in the wild and enjoy a game that extends the narrative of the Jumanji sequel and pays homage to the original, too! More than often you’ll have to make do with normal paper materials, which sometimes even rip when pressing them out of their molds. While poking about, you find a console, and while messing with it, your group gets sucked into the video game as your chosen avatars. Our game master Cat was truly amazing by keeping us immersed into the game, and also answering all of our questions perfectly at the end.

I love the idea (and have seen it before) of 'bonus tasks' after the main objective is done, it's great as you get to enjoy the full hour but there is normally a scoring element to it, this felt like a way to fill the time and the fact the loot wasn't tallied for a score at the end felt like an anti climax. Played this room in August 2018 and our group was disappointed in a jaw dropping “I can’t believe this just happened” sort of way. The time allotted was not enough to appreciate its production value (arguably, we did lose a chunk of time being mesmerised by the room's magical elements). Having played The Game, I went into Hypnos with a very clear idea of Mythologic’s style, so it was a bit of a shock when I was greeted by a more spartan space this time around.Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating - particularly as some members of the group were late, cannot fault the staff, really chatty, engaging and did not seem annoyed at all. After we started the video game console and booted up Jumanji, we found ourselves in a jungle environment.

I found what they’d created later in the experience to be at a similar level, being both more unusual than in The Game and also – and perhaps partly as a consequence – more engaging. It seems that the tale of Jumanji isn’t finished just yet, as a videogame is about to be released, as well as a new movie which is supposed to hit the theaters this December. Our game master was really helpful, especially considering that this is apparently one of the harder escape rooms. Jumanji has always been an interesting concept and a very enjoyable film thanks to the performance of Robin Williams. Some of the puzzles were a little vague and, when we eventually figured out what we needed to so with one puzzle (after a hint as nothing was obvious) the GM had to 'assist' from outside the room.

Jumanji offered more magical, unique, tech-assisted moments, which if you've seen the trailer, you've already gotten a healthy sampler of. We’ve found it hard to find an escape room that we all enjoy so that our youngest son feels involved. This was a bafflingly faithful recreation of a set that received about 15 seconds of screen time in the movie. In our team, there were a couple of teenagers who are well versed with escape rooms, but we couldn't make it out.

Sometimes, the gm had to prompt us to re-position items; other times, she straight up manually overrode the mechanics from the control room.Once we were in the video game, we each selected a character and received an ability based on that role.
