At Binghamton University, she was a big hit overall, featured several times on the front page of their student newspaper. Kellie Everts, originally named as Rasa Sofija Jakstas, was born on July 16, 1945, in Calw, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Even when you are exercising or dancing do so in a relaxed (calm intensity) manner, not with negative tension. Everts had filed a libel lawsuit against both Downey as well as the television network on which the show was aired, WWOR-TV. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who straddles that line quite as impressively as Kellie Everts.

By the early 70’s Kellie was becoming well known nationally with articles about her in national and local Media; Washington Post, Washington Star, San Francisco Chronicle, New York Daily News, and many other US newspapers. Males were promoting the muscularity of females, but sooner or later, it was a case of when they feel "threatened" they will back down—and so they did. However, by then she had already accomplished her goal of promoting bodybuilding for women, having laid the groundwork for it several years prior.

Television appearances included Mike Douglas 1975, To Tell the Truth 1975, Real People 1979, and Tom Snyder, each time involving the promotion of the concept. That moniker is enough to catch your attention, then throw in the eclectic totality of her resume (and just like her, it’s stacked) and things get even more interesting. As a stripper Kellie attracted attention but it was the combination of Stripper and evangelical religious conviction which led to the creation of the “Stripper for God”. Her travels to Canada and a single trip to the UK resulted in many media articles about this unique personality in international publications; UK (TidBits, SHE Magazine) Germany (Express, Stern, TV Zeitung), Canada (Montreal Star, Journal de Montreal, Toronto Sun, Ottawa Citizen) as well as articles in the Italian, Dutch and Spanish media.

These include further volumes in her autobiographical I Strip For God book series, as well as books containing all the guidelines, directions, doctrine, and suggestions for her Sisterhood and "New Religion for Women" that she founded. Before then she had regularly been profiled in Muscle Training Illustrated, a pre-eminent bodybuilding magazine of its day; this was five years before female bodybuilding's first major physique competition effectively legitimized women's bodybuilding. So she engaged in something unprecedented and, in hindsight, pioneering: the promotion of women's bodybuilding through the media.
