The multi-agency operation continues at Didcot A Power Station following the partial collapse of a building on Tuesday (23/2). NHS organisations are working together to support the response to the major incident at Didcot Power Station. This will be an invaluable resource for a wide range of professionals, from doctors across emergency medicine, public health, general practice, pre-hospital care, and communicable disease control, to nurses, emergency services, administrators and planners. Homes and businesses in OX1, OX2, OX3, OX4, OX9, OX14, OX33, OX44 and HP18 – including Abingdon and some surrounding towns and villages – have been affected with no water supply or low pressure and some schools have been forced to close. The University of Oxford Risk and Resilience Team and the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were involved, and Oxford University Security Services and the other Oxford colleges were also made aware of the exercise.As part of the staged incident there were a number of fire appliances located along the High Street outside the College and hoses run from hydrants, with fire service personnel in breathing apparatus travelling back and forth between the College and the appliances. Our priority remains to recover those missing but the site remains extremely unstable – both the collapsed structure and the remaining building which has already been primed and cut for demolition.
