About this deal

As far as this reviewer is aware, Dooley is the first children’s author to deal explicitly with the issue of treatment for a lack of physical growth. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. Join our community to get personalised book suggestions, extracts straight to your inbox, 10% off RRPs, and to change children’s lives. Some parts felt unfinished, like the character development of Nadine, the most notorious bully; and others felt sped up at warp speed, like Frankie's relationship to her father. She’s not sure whether it is because she talks a lot, or whether it is because she always seems to say the wrong thing, or if it because she has to go the hospital every month to check whether she is growing fast enough.

The story covers some really important topics alongside neurodiversity, including self-acceptance, what it means to be family, the importance of friendship, and treating people with kindness. At the news of Wilbur's forthcoming slaughter, campaigning Charlotte, to the astonishment of people for miles around, spins words in her web.

Frankie believes she is an alien; she is the smallest person in her class – and she is accused of talking too much! Aoife openly shares her experiences of being diagnosed as autistic at the age of 27, neurodiversity and how a diagnosis helped her to truly understand herself. Still, when Frankie starts a karate class and discovers she quite likes it, it gives her some confidence, as does winning her class art competition.

The following suggestions offer a spectrum of different perspectives and are well worth seeking out.

The three way chats, in which they are joined by other animals, about web spinning, themselves, other humans—are as often informative as amusing, and the whole tenor of appealing wit and pathos will make fine entertainment for reading aloud, too. Young Fern Arable pleads for the life of runt piglet Wilbur and gets her father to sell him to a neighbor, Mr.

Left with only enough inheritance to patch and repair the exterior of the house—and with the school’s dismal standardized test scores as a final straw—Greg’s mom steers the family toward moving, opening up house-hunting and house-selling storylines (and devastating loyal Rowley, who doesn’t want to lose his best friend). Bardzo mi sie podobalo to ze na koncu byla definicja autyzmu, obalanie i potwierdzanie faktów oraz to ze bylo napisane czym jest prawdziwa przyjazn, kocham!Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. A unique story told with a light touch and an abundance of warmth and wit, Frankie’s World is laugh-out-loud funny and a love letter to daring to be different.
