About this deal

Beginning in a dark, neon-lit Chinatown alley, we hear the voice of Randall Peltzer (entertainer Hoyt Axton), who proclaims he has a story to tell.

Wing (Keye Luke) and convinces the man's grandson to sell him a mogwai, the cute gremlin at the heart of the film. A couple moments slightly dip in resolution quality, but that's due to the age and condition of the source.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

Feed the critter more than it needs, it develops an insatiable, greedy hunger that's never satisfied, and water only exacerbates things by multiplying and growing, like water to a plant. Digitally, there are no compression problems, and the original source is free from damage, but it does have quite a hefty sheen of grain, especially early on in the snow, nothing to really worry about unless you are sensitive to such things. The original camera negative has been scanned in 4K for its UHD release and the film has been graded for high dynamic range in HDR10. Nearly all the big names involved are interviewed with the most significant exception being Phoebe Cates and the late composer Jerry Goldsmith. There’s also finally more visible film grain able to have enough bandwidth to not become pixilated or such. Gizmo (and his eventual Gremlin counterparts) were created using practical and mechanical puppets, that—again for the day—were pretty groundbreaking. Frank Welker is probably best known to ‘80s kids as Transformers villain Megatron, but the fact that he isn’t credited as often for evil Gremlin leader Stripe is, I think, a testament to the fact that we believe Stripe is real when we watch him.
