We’re still perhaps a little short of challenge cards, and magic cards are still quite nonconsequential, but it’s a much more balanced game. The base game provides 6 Party leaders, but with an additional 2 Party Leaders provided in this expansion, this raises the maximum to 8 players in a game. Some warrior cards also have the ability to hold two item cards, so you can protect your loved ones with a decoy doll, as well as adding +2 to your roll.

The version I have is the Kickstarter Exclusive version which does have some extras you won’t get in the base game. Placing hero cards down straight away can give you a free one-shot bonus (which therefore costs an action to play) and strengthen your party. Unlike winning with hero cards, which can be destroyed or stolen by other players, once you’ve defeated a monster there is nothing that anyone can do to take it away from you. There was even a card that was if you roll a 6 or higher you get a +5 to ALL your rolls if you discard ANY 1 card.

In this game, you’ll assemble a full party of heroes to slay dangerous monsters while working to avoid the sabotage of your foes. It’s one of my go-to casual games and a great option when my wife and I want to have fun with a board game that doesn’t require too much time or brain power.

Don’t let the fact that the game came from Kickstarter put you off, the entire campaign was run to perfection and you can tell that from the moment to open the box, with a small magnetic clip to open the lid and the plastic moulding around all the cards and dice, plus the artwork is to die kill for!The game also includes items you can equip to your heroes, 1V1 challenge cards, and roll modifiers to tip the odds in your favor. There’s a lot of space given to the artwork – which you can understand, given how nice it is – but it would have been nice if more attention had been paid to making the cards a little more clear to read in terms of their in-game benefits.
