About this deal

With notes of dark chocolate, smoke, and dried fruit, this whisky is perfect for sipping by the fireside. We'll send them to be recycled and you'll save paper, carbon emissions and time at the recycling centre!

We love smoky whisky and decided to give The Famous Grouse another try - we'd tried it before and weren't impressed. Unconventional from the start, he named his unique whisky after the iconic Scottish game bird, rather than himself. If you’d prefer your bottle to come with a little more of that essential personal touch, then you’ll want to take advantage of our custom laser-engraving service. We recommend that you do not rely solely on the information presented here and that you always read labels, warnings, and directions before using or consuming a product. The nose is soft and musky, while subtle spices and dried fruit flavours contribute to a strong and aromatic body. The Smoky Grouse is not a bad whisky and will work nicely in a cocktail, but I am not sure that I will repurchase this bottle.

The Famous Grouse's long-term commitment to excellence has been awarded the Royal Warrant by Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen, first established by Queen Victoria and maintained to the present day. Produced in Scotland, it is a blend of peated and non-peated malt whiskies that have been carefully aged in oak casks to create a complex and well-balanced flavour. The identification must show a photograph, date of birth and either a holographic mark or ultraviolet feature. Whilst we endeavour the ensure the continued accuracy of all product, pricing and nutritional data at all times, we do not accept liability for any inaccuracies or incorrect information contained on this site. The Famous Grouse Smoky Black (previously The Black Grouse) blends more peated malt whiskies, including a rare version of Glenturret, with exceptional grain whiskies to produce a richer, lightly smoky and smooth flavour.

I loved the Black Grouse whisky and found it the perfect bottle to pair with Indian food and use in marinade for lamb. Take into account, my last bottle of Black Grouse is long gone, and I am just comparing by memory, but I can’t remember the Black Grouse having so much alcohol heat with the grainy sweetness and very light peat. Content on this site is not intended to substitute for advice given by medical practitioner, pharmacist, or other licensed health-care professional. As you might expect, it’s been crafted to emphasise those smoky notes, but it’s still approachable, with plenty of complex dried fruit providing a counterbalance.
