I use this book with my group of phonics children, they are reception aged children and combined with being lower ability they really need something fun and something they can join in with. I usually play each segment after I myself have taught the corresponding letter-sound relationships in the classroom as a reward for their hard work. Its just a shame its not a bit more modern, but then if they like it and they are learning then that's what counts. The set of 60 picture flash cards covers all the letter sounds taught in Jolly Phonics, plus 17 alternatives.I like that the book is hard cover and pages are thick, pictures vibrant (and relevant) even though the stories are very weird - My son hasn’t been interested in the book so far, but I am sure when he is ready he will get a lot out of this book.
