Bright images aren't the be all and end all of a great TV, but you need to know your new display will perform well in a variety of lighting environments. In terms of sound, the A80L is a bit bass-light, but that does mean that it stays composed even through our Blade Runner 2049 stress test. Sony's second-generation QD-OLED is a very special TV that is super-bright and vibrant but still subtle and authentic. It's a good gaming TV if you don't care about advanced features, as it doesn't support VRR and is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, but it does have a fast response time and very low input lag.
