About this deal

However, her journey encounters obstacles in birds and other beach surprises that she finds along the way. Her favourite games are ones that involve lots of other kids and grown-ups (especially her dad) and she mainly likes to pretend she’s a grown up doing grownup things herself. The story itself is engaging and entertaining, with just the right amount of humor and heartwarming moments. On the surface, your child may be learning new names of beach animals and enjoying the building suspense of Bluey’s beach-side adventure. Along the way, mermaid-with-legs Bluey encounters many things that both challenge and delight her: a surfing champion (voiced by surfing legend Layne Beachley), a flock of seagulls, a big wave that covers Mums footsteps, a weeing pippy, a soldier crab (followed by a herd of soldier crabs), a scary jellyfish and a washed out sand castle that she decides must be a mermaid house.

It is subtle enough that some kids won't pick up on the melancholy aspects, but they will still love the book. Pipi's feed by taking in water and feeding on the Phytoplankton, then they squirt out the water so they can take in more.

This book has a charming colloquial Australian voice and is full of humour and of course great lessons for the young people.

The Bluey books line has been a sales machine for PRH, with books from the series being the second-, third- and fourth-biggest selling children’s books in Australia in 2019. Once they get to the sand they commence the activities that most Australian families do upon arrival at the beach: delight in the texture of the sand, apply sun cream and zinc, set up the sunshade, play jump the waves, soak up the sunshine, make sandcastles and bury your siblings legs in the sand in a mermaid tail. I do think that the story works better as an episode, but it still far better than most tie in novels that I read to the kids. They recognise success in Australian writing, publishing and bookselling, with an orientation towards business and sales. Though they traditionally feature a lavish dinner event, this year’s Abias ceremony was livestreamed on YouTube on Wednesday afternoon amid the coronavirus lockdown. Final verdict: BLUEY: THE BEACH is a charming beach adventure about bravery and trying something new that is sure to capture young imaginations.

Bluey, the Emmy-winning Australian children’s television series about a little blue heeler puppy and her family, has just added another award to its swag – in a far more traditional medium. While widely popular, I was still surprised to find this element in the book, but loved the surprise none-the-less. The latest in the series, Bluey: The Creek, debuted at No3 on the Australian bestseller lists just last week. After regaling Mum with her heroic solo adventure, they walk back along the beach hand in hand and Bluey observes that she too enjoys walks on her own.Having experienced what it’s like to be on your own for the first time, Bluey reunites with Mum and they listen to the shell, before walking back down the beach together. What child doesn’t love a story involving cute puppies and for even more fun it’s a 'Lift The Flap' book!
