About this deal

Really interesting and learned a lot, however it’s very very repetitive, which gets a bit dull and meant that I zoned out a bit on some bits. A positive birth, which is something we all strive for, is a birth experience that leaves a woman feeling empowered rather than traumatised, where the mother's wishes are respected, she is listened to and feels calm, confident, and informed. After reading this book I was actually really looking forward to giving birth and felt almost excited and not nervous at all at the prospect. As much as I agree and understand that "modern" birthing methods are not always the best, to be so heavily negative towards hospital births gave me no choice but to stop reading for my own mental wellbeing. As someone who has gone through labor once I wasn't as interested in the "what," but this did help to explain a lot of the "whys.

In definitiva, utile per certi versi ma si sta parlando di una persona che sostanzialmente vende quello che racconta e purtroppo questo l’ho avvertito tanto. Giving birth—however you choose to do it—is truly the most amazing thing you will experience in your life, and meeting your precious baby for the first time is one of life's most unforgettable moments. Siobhan Miller, mother of three boys, is an experienced hypnobirthing coach and founder of The Positive Birth Company, which aims to empower women and their birth partners to create positive birth experiences. Being relaxed is key, so you will learn how to quickly and easily access a state of deep relaxation using a combination of breathing techniques, visualisations, guided relaxation exercises, light touch massage, positive affirmations and various other techniques. In this review, I'd like to share the contents of this book to give an idea to those who are interested in reading it as well. After a difficult past labour I was very apprehensive about finding out that I was pregnant just due to the fact that I would have to do it again. As this is my first pregnancy I had really high hopes for this book to educate me and reassure me of the empowering experience of labour. Just as I would telling them to speak to my other half and not talk to me, who would surely just pass on what they're asking or saying anyway? Reading the title, I thought this would be about hypnosis, but it's actually about breaking a cycle of fear and trying to create an environment where the mum-to-be can relax and allow her body to work its natural magic.

I was recommended this book by my cousin and it’s definitely been a thought changer when it comes to birthing babies.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. By the time you finish this book you’ll feel relaxed, capable and genuinely excited about giving birth. The author is very honest and candid in this book and helps you to see things from a more logical perspective when it comes to how your body is designed to give birth and the best way to do that.

This book is for EVERY type of person and for EVERY type of birth -- from a home water birth through to an unplanned caesarean. Hypnobirthing was recommended to me by a close friend who gave birth last year and told me it had helped her tremendously. I'm grateful to no longer be the quintessential helpless father figure, but the "keeper of the cave", responsible for managing the environment, relaxing mum, supporting her through the breathing exercises, and being by her side throughout the experience.I have so much more confidence and feel empowered and equipped to advocate for myself and baby after reading this book. Setting the environment is more important than you think, and the nurses/doctors kept saying how my room was full of good vibes and the one to be in. Information like birth shouldn't be painful in the majority of cases, that Hollywood depictions are dramatic and wrong can be good for mindset but there are parts where, although she doesn't recommend anything outright, strongly suggesting not to induce because the risk of stillborn going for 4/10000 to 6/10000 is still as small risk and it doesn't matter "how a baby makes it into the world as much as how you feel about bringing the baby into the world" presupposes a successful outcome that would result in more dead babies if applied as a policy to everyone giving birth. That negative feeling can make a difficult birth more likely, causing a vicious cycle of tension that increases pain, that increases fear, that increases tension, etc.

I certainly didn’t opt for a pool birth with no pain killers for my second labour as I knew what labour is like - and knew that wasn’t going to work for me. I loved this book, it's so informative, empowering and just makes you feel so much more relaxed about labour – I am actually looking forward to it now and can't wait to experience this special day. Miller describes active labour as "a spa experience to be soaked up" and pushing as "an amazing sensation you'll want to experience again and again".I don’t know how many times she says to “change the space with electric tea lights” or “listen to a guided meditation or podcast” or how many time she recommends a “quick spritz with an essential oils room spray” but it’s A LOT. I watched one of Siobhan's one hour webinars (free) and that was a useful sunmary of most of the things which are in the book.
