About this deal

The book is cleverly done as a counting rhyme, tracking granny’s progress around the world and increasing the number of objects bought as she travels. All of these objects are things that are well known for the area such as various tapestries from Istanbul, Nesting Dolls, Llamas, drums etc. I like that some cultural elements are explained- for example, the names of the cats Granny gets in Thailand, Puyin and Puchai, are the Thai words for "little girl" and "little boy". Although these students may not be able to travel the world at this moment, it shows them about different cultures. There is a lot going on, so someone would be able to play a game of iSpy or different counting activities.
