About this deal

Once you've been inspired by Paul Akers' story and experience on Lean, you are now able to learn Lean in a more academic way, and some more structured tools to use later on on your workplace. Of course, since "LEAN is a Journey" (quote from Paul's first book), it's only obvious that Lean Travel be the next book written by Paul launching the Summer of 2016. On my visit to FastCap, Paul’s employees showed me several examples of how they have employed the 2 Second Lean principle to save time and money – usually saving a lot more than just two seconds!

Everybody tells you how to implement Lean… but Paul reveals the values that make Lean grow from within your people. Each year, Americans start one million new businesses, nearly 80 percent of which fail within the first five years. Our city employees have embraced the concept of constantly seeking out improvements and efficiencies to their job duties.

Im so glad i did, he makes lean so much fun i love the way he applies lean to all sorts of things in life. The author also started off by going off script (and acknowledging that he was doing so) and the audiobook content doesn’t directly line up with the printed/ pdf version. He makes everything about waste–muda (and the 8 wastes), muri, and mura–as simple as “fix what bugs you.

For work I have to get so many education hours in a year and thankfully reading to obtain them is an option. By making and sharing small and large improvements we've saved hundreds if not thousands of hours yearly. Paul demonstrates the same spirit of adventure that I imagine the engineers at Ford and Toyota must have felt those many years ago a spirit so often lost in modern Lean. It’s very applicable to all of life and I’ve already completed a few of my own two second improvements! Paul worked in Pasadena restoring some of the most prestigious historical homes and became part of an exclusive group of craftsmen that built the home for the editor of Architectural Digest. The author spent more time hyping his own products/company and restating the title than he did making new revelations.

That’s why it heartens me to know that Paul teaches his continuous improvement principles to government. P. and managing officer of Toyota, help executives and senior managers get employees to refocus their efforts - from simply performing their singular function to continuously improving in collaboration across the organization. Paul has thousands of followers on his weekly podcast, “The American Innovator” where he teaches about the power of innovation and Lean thinking. The Great Game of Business started a business revolution by introducing the world to open-book management, a new way of running a business that created unprecedented profit and employee engagement. We should also mention that small companies are not the only organizations leveraging lean videos in this way. Mark not only revisits the original Fred to gain new insights, but also equips all of us with new strategies to achieve more.

Paul teaches that learning to see waste is so important because you can’t eliminate waste if you can’t see it. He catapulted into the business world when his knack for problem solving led to an invention and eventually to his own manufacturing business that started in his garage. Paul Akers is the founder and president of FastCap, a product development company specializing in woodworking tools and hardware for the professional builder. So I thought this was a hokey self-help book for the manufacturing world and I understandably resisted reading it until I had to fill 20 hours in a car by myself and was left with little excuse. With the strategies outlined in this book, you'll have your projects, team, and maybe even your organization running at peak efficiency. This is the perfect book to read if you are interested in Lean principles and how to incorporate them into any aspect of your life- but you tend to fall asleep reading technical books, looking at statistics, and trying to interpret various charts and maps.
