I am often a fan of European graphic novels because the art is so rich and detailed, and this book is no exception. Paterson Joseph, who will be voicing the role of Sherlock Holmes and has most recently been seen in BBC One's Vigil and Noughts + Crosses, also said of the new role: “The wonder of recording sound, only, is the gift of imagination you can offer an attentive audience.I particularly enjoyed getting to know the Irregulars and their interactions with Holmes - and seeing this Victorian London in graphic novel form. The Baker Street Irregulars play a lead role in the series of cooperative board games Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, first published in 1981 with multiple expansions released later. It is really about four of his Baker Street irregulars, that he would have help him in spying for him. The backgrounds were extremely detailed, which sometimes helped and sometimes hindered; action scenes had a tendency to look like a freeze-frame rather than being imbued with action themselves.

It was adapted into a play, also titled Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars, by Eric Coble. One thing I will say is that as I was reading it I wasn't sure if it was meant for a teen or adult audience. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Huge amounts of work have gone into ensuring the streets of London are teeming with distinctive characters, with all kinds of little tidbits to discover throughout. Simpson, whom Watson describes as "a small street Arab", briefly appears in the story to report to Holmes.

The art style is fun, the cat details (reaching up for the snack tray toward the end lol) lighthearted addition. The board game was adapted for the 1991–1993 Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective video game series, though the Irregulars do not play a lead role in the video games. Smith wrote that this shows that Holmes "realised the value of reliable assistants and was humble enough to look for them in places where others of his status might have never deigned to tread".
