About this deal

Mark challenges his readers to honor their upline (those who have invested in them) and empower their downline (those who come after them). Thank you Mark Batterson for being a leader who chases big dreams and for the encouragement and inspiration you have provided to me. The deeds mentioned are noteworthy and inspiring, and Batterson uses them well to springboard into ways we can have the same courage in our own lives. Sooner or later, we all come face to face with a lion- an opportunity or dream so big that our first reaction is to run.

Your greatest legacy is the next generation of dreamers that your dream inspires—the dreams within a dream. These are simple enough for young kids to learn, yet powerful enough for mature Bible students to benefit. And from that verse, Batterson moves immediately into a discussion about how we need to model Benaiah’s example of not backing down from our destiny. Just about every story of evidence to substantiate his argument is about worldly success, most of them focused on his church. I finished the audio book in only two sittings, and will most certainly be listening to it again as I know that I will get something new from the next listen.

Time and time again Mark challenged me to be disenchanted with the status quo, to dream bigger dreams, to try more courageous things, to see that my life is not just lived for me. Chase the Lion not only helped me take a fresh look at my life s purpose, but it also gave me the renewed energy to dream big and work hard. He gets pretty close to prosperity talk towards the end saying that when we’re nice to others we’ll reap their generosity towards us and that, “If you’re diligent, you’ll stand before kings. Mark Batterson serves as lead pastor of National Community Church in Washington, DC, one church with multiple locations.

One of the better motivational books I’ve read, “Chase the Lion” gets especially high marks for readability, and for numerous, on-point illustrations and examples from the lives and experiences of people in all walks of life. Mostly it just repeated itself over and over, and the thing the previous reviewer said about it being just a long plug for his other books is completely correct. In a Pit isn’t my best-selling book, but if the measuring stick is life-altering decisions directly resulting from reading it, it might get the grand prize. He draws out all kinds of conjectured motivations and back stories to the characters that have no biblical support. The audience gasps as Benaiah turns around and takes a flying leap of faith, disappearing into the darkness.Sometimes our kids were totally oblivious to the fact that we had the ball, so I would yell at the top of my lungs: You're on offense! In Chase the Lion, Pastor Mark Batterson will inspire and teach you to grab opportunity by the mane, go after your God-sized dreams, and chase the lion. The other 17 chapters didn’t disappoint, and this was easily a book that will leave a mark on my life. I can’t recommend Chase The Lion enough to anyone who wants to do great things, and leave a legacy of greatness for generations to come. This book of encouragement and spurring on revolves around the Mighty Men that supported King David during a tumultuous time in Israel’s political history.
