About this deal

Place the cake on a large serving plate, then coat the outer sides of the cake with the ganache, ensuring that there is an even coating all round.

The illustrations reflect the written story well, and the noises the children and teacher make while reading create a memorable experience.wellearnedpint 2023 has all been a bit much, the primary school lead-up to Christmas is definitely too much. Short and highly entertaining, it's a funny little book that will make young children giggle a lot as well as be drawn to the colourful drawings of his tale! Rosen relates how as a little boy one night he snuck down stairs just to look at the chocolate cake leftovers his mother would put in his lunch the next day, and how that changed to just licking up crumbs on the plate, to getting caught in the morning with chocolate on his face and an empty plate in the cupboard. a sound I can't even be bothered to spell* scrunched all together in the crumbly bits and the sticky bits and it’s all going in there, yeah, belly-belly-belly. The story is about a little boy (a little Michael Rosen really) sneaking downstairs in the middle of the night, when everyone else is fast asleep, to look at a big chocolate cake his mum has made… and then, of course, he’s unable to resist having a few crumbs… and then a bit more… until the whole cake is gone!

So I used to go to school with a piece of chocolate cake in my little box, and I'd be walking to school; "YEAH, It's IN THERE, IN THERE! There have been many dry and crumbly chocolate cakes in my past, but this one was neither of those things. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Together with Kevin Waldron, Michael’s spoken poem masterpiece is released as a picture book for the very first time, offering a whole extra bite of the hilarious, characterful classic. They aren't difficult but they do require a certain amount of patience as you have to wait for them to cool completely before icing and so on.

After seeing it being brought to life by Michael Rosen himself in videos he's posted on YouTube, it's lovely to see it being illustrated by Kevin Waldron. In both cases it's a chocolate cake so there's definitely a bit of cross pollination going on somewhere. She went on and on about how some little girl’s Babushka made the cake for her to help her overcome her fear of thunder. Who has not been woken in the night by a craving for leftover food that you know is just waiting to be eaten in the kitchen? For this, I am a big fan of the video clip where an animated Rosen is telling the audience of eating his mum’s delicious chocolate cake.
