About this deal

But when the twins are whisked off to Jungledrop, a magical Unmapped Kingdom in charge of conjuring our world's weather, things get wildly out of hand. As a reader, I had the pleasure of exploring the pages of this book and immersing myself in the enchanting storytelling and vivid characters created by Cressida Cowell. It is also full of humorous situations that brings extra entertainment in its twisty, action-packed fantasy/sci-fi world. The author narrates the book herself, and it's a fully produced recording complete with sound effects. The story strikes a quirky balance of wild and outrageous storytelling that only great authors can dream up.

Can Mafalda find a way through a seemingly dark future and still go to school, play football and look after her beloved cat? Mae K2, Izzabird, Theo, Mabel ac Annipeck yn cael eu sgubo i ffwrdd ar antur hudol o’u bywydau cyffredin, ac maen nhw’n gorfod achub eu rhieni a stopio’r byd rhag dod i ben. Make sure to put your thinking cap on and spritz some Steri-gas on yourself before you step into this Otherworld. There were Cyril and Horizabel and THE EXCORIATOR and Vorcxix, two aunts and two speaking robots, there was family history, a possibly planet destroying government, auras, a tree cure, pirates and bounty hunters and it felt like too much for one book. There is also an environmental thread where humans have been the key in driving a beautiful species to near extinction.I absquo-lootely adore books where someone can say, ‘Something’s spooked the toothbrushes …’ and it makes perfect sense.

But K2 and his sister Izzabird have been sworn to silence about their family's magical legacy - and they themselves are not aware of the value of the drawings. Then they have two lesser main characters that are either, organised and protective or a kind and caring young girl. WWTA feels like an unofficial sequel series to The Wizards of Once with all the magic and easter eggs included. And if she finds the long-lost Forever Fern before the twins, both Jungledrop and our world will crumble.

a joyously anarchic story which addresses the theme of childhood loss with real psychological acuity. The director goes bankrupt and sells half the stage set for money leaving an almost empty stage and all the scripts where lost, so no one knows what to do. With the help of her family, and her friends, Mafalda needs to discover the things that will be important to her when her sight has failed.K2 O'Hero is a seemingly ordinary boy - after all, he and his twin sister Izzabird have been sworn to keep their family's magical history a secret. One of the standout aspects of “Which way to Anywhere” is Cowell’s exceptional ability to ignite the reader’s imagination. Cressida Cowell is the number one bestselling author-illustrator of the How to Train Your Dragon and The Wizards of Once book series. When his baby sister is kidnapped (mistakenly, as the one with the gift), the two families must work together to save her. They are fairly ordinary children (although K2 and Izzabird have some odd magical relatives) living normal lives on Earth in the present day.

In addition to the whimsical elements, there are also more commonplace real life elements with K2 having dyslexia and amblyopia (lazy eye). It's a great start to a new series and I'm already looking forward to the second book that is coming out this year in September! The illustrations are marvellous (I read an arc, so not all of them were included but those that were were gorgeous) and though I liked all the Smith and O'Hero siblings, I do admit Annipeck stole the show with her sheer, hilarious brazenness. Then (picturing this in theatre) the entire cast hurts themselves back stage and then random people from the street take there roles. This is not a standard magic caste system, but there didn’t appear to be any consequences on the user once they had used their gift. The jungle world felt very scary and dangerous, and the ambiguous nature of many of the supporting characters was fun and kept me guessing. She has a BA in English Literature from Oxford University, a BA in Graphic Design from St Martin's and an MA in Narrative Illustration from Brighton. And at the heart of this modern fantasy a very modern message: that those who appear to be worlds apart often have more in common than they assume. Orla thought she was in for a relaxing family holiday, but when she finds a mysterious glowing necklace in the woods, it turns out there is a slight possibility she may have uncovered an ancient curse.
