About this deal

Vemos o quanto pode custar estarmos longe de quem, antes, estava connosco sempre e nos mostrava as curiosidades mais engraçadas sempre com um sorriso terno. Whether it's read as a picture book about love, loss or just missing someone who isn't around anymore, it's a charmer. It's illustrations and messages allow for this to be an ideal resource in initiating discussion and communicating the difficult messages in an understandable and relatable way. Overall, although this book deals with a difficult topic it's still an excellent resource in any KS1 primary classroom!

This picture book deals excellently with a tricky topic about family members leaving which can be difficult to explain to young children. The grandad goes there with his grandson and then stays because I believe he knows he is going to die. I could see what the author/artist was trying to accomplish, but somehow I didn't find the narrative as poignant or eloquent as some others. In all, Davies has created a honest and touching story that is rich in detail with vibrant illustrations that capture the story perfectly.

Sure to provide comfort to young children struggling to understand loss, this story is a sensitive and beautiful reminder that our loved ones live on in our memories long after they’re gone. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. The metaphor is not very explicit which means the book could simply be used as a nice read-aloud story for younger readers or explored more deeply with older children. He has worked on a huge range of subjects and platforms, with clients as diverse as such Waterstone’s, Sainsbury’s and Oxfam, and in countries as different as India and Australia.A beautiful story containing a metaphor for death which may not be entirely obvious to younger children. This would be a great story to read to children for them to learn to cope with oncoming death, or if they have experienced loss at some point. Syd and his Grandad set sail for a very special island in this metaphorical exploration of death and grieving for the picture-book set. Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids.

From a young age he was often to be found painting at the kitchen table, a scene which can still be seen to this day. Indeed, Grandad's Island doesn't mention death at all, but is deeply in touch with the ways in which loss and abundance commingle in the mind, correcting and assuaging each other. However, this books positive tone throughout could really aid this discussion in the primary classroom by navigating a sad topic in a memorable way. This book, along with its fantastic illustrations, tackles the difficult subject of losing a grandparent in a sensitive and subtle way. A heart-warming adventure tale, this picture book sees a young boy and his Grandad take to the skies to rescue the stranded astronauts spotted through their telescope. The book has endless opportunities for discussion and predictions to extend children's understanding of the story. Visiting Grandad's house at the bottom of the garden again, he finds it just the same as it's always been - except that Grandad isn't there anymore. Com linguagem simples e desenhos de uma ternura inigualável, vemos o quanto pode ser doloroso despedirmo-nos de alguém de quem gostamos muito. Then I read the blurb and after that I re-read the book and saw some small hints that indeed hinted to that blurb.

Missing his grandfather, Syd is comforted by the idea, as represented by the letter from the island that he receives, that his Grandad is in a good place.Myślę, że każde dziecko zrozumie tę historię na swój sposób a my jako rodzice/nauczyciele, możemy jedynie pomóc im ją przyswoić.
