People may enjoy this for the slow tension, and I can understand that, but the ending was ridiculous, and the characters frustrating. When the attacks on the house start everyone looks to Tarryn as they assume it to be the work of youngsters. Yet everybody has something to hide and, as more secrets come to light, you can’t help feeling you’ve been deceived somewhere along the line, and not necessarily by the character you thought. One of my favourite tropes in thrillers is when the mysterious perpetrator is one of the narrators and I was happy to see it in this book. Unable to identify the perpetrators, the Adlers are helpless as the assaults escalate into violence, and worse.She also constantly refers to "uniformed" officers when it is usually only uniform that is used in this context. I don’t mind admitting that the author had me totally fooled and I never once suspected the actual perpetrator, leaving me shook when we got to the big reveal.
