About this deal

When a mysterious boy begins possessing these fortune-seekers, eventually driving them to suicide, a high school student takes it upon himself to uncover the growing mystery behind the phenomenon sending his small town into chaos.

He gives chase outside and finds out it's Teshima, who has been spreading the rumors and planting the fake earrings and jackets. Over the next several nights, the woman keeps coming back, asking for advice about her relationship with the married man.The Atoner: Ryusuke, for he believes he started this whole mess as a child by brushing off a woman who became the first crossroads suicide from his dismissal.

Because of the captivating(lmao) cover and intriguing title, I was looking forward to reading this collection. The first two stories are the usual dark, horror, excellence with some amazingly gory imagery in The Rib Woman. Ryuusuke has taken off to an abandoned shed where he is kept company and fed by Midori who visits every so often, saddened still about what has happened to Ryuusuke. Some girls mention that ten years before, a woman killed herself after playing Intersection Fortune Telling. It ends with an autobiographical 4 page short - memories of real poop - Like Master Umuzz in 'Venus in the Blind Spot' It feels utterly out of place with the other tales in the volume and is a really poor way to end this volume. Police Are Useless: When Ryusuke visits the police about the situation, he is instead turned against because of the efforts to frame him as the boy at the crossroads. The crossroads fortunes, a strange folkway of Nazumi where you ask the first stranger who passes you at a crossroads for advice, were a great focal point for the story because they were so evocative of youthful whimsy and wishful thinking. But, the next day, the woman came back to Midori's house looking for more advice about her situation. She asked him if she would find happiness and being in a bad mood, Ryusuke answered no, so the woman killed herself.

Sometime later, Ryuusuke and Midori are walking home from school when they find a heavily tattooed woman standing at an intersection. Every sibling gave off an uneasy vibe, and watching each one of them unfold until they displayed their psychotic side had me on the edge. The story’s quite atmospheric though and the creepy fog makes the narrow Japanese streets seem claustrophobic. Eventually, Ryuusuke gets tired of her being annoying and screams at her to go away, since he likes Midori. Frustrated, Ryuusuke tells the woman that she needs to stop focusing on her problems so much and she needs to find something to do.He notices that the majority of the residents seem to be doing fortune telling, and even he is approached about the grief-stricken father of one of the deceased girls in the mass suicide. The Lovesickness story takes up the first 250 pages and is decent but ultimately went on a little bit too long for my personal taste. When she asks him if her relationship with the man will work out, he tells her it won't and runs away.
