About this deal

Stephen Millar has already enjoyed considerable success with London’s City Churches, also published by Metro Publications. My only real problem with the set is that there are many inaccuracies in the position of buildings and the fact that many street intersections are not shown on the maps at all means you can frequently find yourself struggling to know exactly where you are.

Shaughan was an amazing guide and despite having grown up in London I didn’t know many of the things he was telling us.The London's Hidden Walks Box set includes 3 volumes, in an attractive slip case, each book includes: 400pp, full-colour, sewn paperback, 12 maps, over 400 photos. I’ve taken a deep dive into all the best hidden walks in London offered on the free app Go Jauntly, and I’ve come up with a list of the very best hidden London bridge walks and canal walks in London. Following the success of Steven Millar’s first three volumes, London’s Hidden Walks Volume 4 introduces twelve new walks that will surprise and entertain the intrepid explorer. With over 400 full-colour photographs, this book is packed with interesting details about London's history with both personal tales of those that wandered the same streets in former years and a more general social and economic history of the different areas covered. And – always with private London Walks and tours – we go to great lengths to make sure the guide-walker(s) “fit” is well-nigh perfect.

There are some good and interesting facts thrown in about the walks too, the sort of things you would be told to look out for and told about if you were taking a dedicated walking tour in the area. For example, how many times have you walked out of St Paul's Underground Station, en route to either your office in Paternoster Square or on Ludgate Hill, or bound for the Cathedral itself?Small enough to fit in a bag or pocket, this handy guidebook is ideal for tourists or locals looking to discover more about the city. Accompanied by guided walking instructions and written by a local expert, A-Z London Hidden Walks is the perfect way to explore the city in a new light. The book gives a great picture of the history of the areas, and focuses not just on existing buildings, but also the people who frequented the area. It's really well-written, it includes a *huge* number of very interesting-sounding walks, and the photos are a definite enhancement.
