About this deal

A documentary film, Life After Tomorrow, was directed and produced by one of the original Broadway and national tour orphans, Julie Stevens and partner, Gil Cates Jr. It reunites more than 40 women who played orphans in the show and reveals the highs and lows of their experiences as child actresses in a cultural phenomenon. The film premiered on Showtime and was released on DVD in 2008.

No começo do livro tem um texto do autor explicando como ele criou a história para o musical e depois como a transformou em um livro… é muito legal! Jones, Kenneth (October 13, 2010). "James Lapine Will Direct Annie on Broadway in 2012". Playbill . Retrieved August 25, 2019. The production began another UK and Ireland tour in February 2019 at the Manchester Opera House starring Anita Dobson as Miss Hannigan, alternating venues with Craig Revel Horwood and Jodie Prenger. Pepper is portrayed in the film by Rosanne Sorrentino, who played Annie in the 3rd National Tour of the musical. Sorrentino originally wanted to be Annie in the film, but was too old.In 2008 The Library of American Comics began publishing The Complete Little Orphan Annie, a series of books compiling the complete run of the comic strip. The series is overseen by Dean Mullaney. Set in New York during the early 1930s, unemployment is high and Prohibition is in and America is plunged into the Great Depression. Annie is a 10 year old girl at the Hudson St Orphanage, run by Miss Hannigan - a horrible gin-soaked child-hating drunk.

Highfill, Samantha (February 27, 2013). "Quvenzhane Wallis' 'Annie' to be released Christmas 2014". Entertainment Weekly . Retrieved February 27, 2013. Annie had its world premiere on August 10, 1976, at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut, under the direction of Michael P. Price. Kristen Vigard was the first actress to play the title role. However, the producers soon decided that Vigard's genuinely sweet interpretation was not tough enough for the street-smart orphan. After a week of performances, Vigard was replaced by Andrea McArdle, who had been playing one of the other orphans, Pepper. Vigard went on to become McArdle's Broadway alternate.

I understood the movie better, because the setting was the same. If it had been different, I might not have enjoyed/prefered it. Keeping the setting similar made me feel like my visuals while reading were put on the screen. A sequel, Annie: A Royal Adventure! was made for television in 1995. It starred Ashley Johnson, Joan Collins, George Hearn, and Ian McDiarmid. Aside from a reprise of "Tomorrow", there are no songs in it. A couple claiming to be Annie's parents, Ralph and Shirley Mudge, arrive at the orphanage. In fact, they are Rooster and Lily in disguise. They believe they can pass themselves off as Annie's parents with Hannigan's help, for which she demands half of the money ("Easy Street (Reprise)"). This is a book that I encourage all to read, especially young girls- no, scratch that- girls of all ages! It inspires you to do more for yourself, and it certainly breathed new life into me!

I'm angry! I'm angry that I did not find this book until today, at 17 years of age. This book could have easily become one of my all time favorite children's books. I'm sorry that I missed that chance, but glad that I have caught up. Clement, Olivia (September 20, 2016). "An Unexpected Dream Come True For The New, History-Making Annie". Playbill . Retrieved August 25, 2019.

All three original debuting actresses' names started with an "A", just like the character's: Andrea McArdle, who first played the role on Broadway; Aileen Quinn, who played the role in the 1982 Columbia film, and Alicia Morton, who played the role in the 1999 Disney telefilm. She is played by Quvenzhané Wallis in the 2014 film. That went double for Ashley Johnson (though she wasn't introduced in this role) when she played the role in the 1995 (1996 internationally) TV sequel Annie: A Royal Adventure! (See the picture above with all 4 of these Annies). Annie Jr. is a musical licensed by Music Theatre International's Broadway Junior collection, specially edited to be performed by children in a shortened form. It is performed internationally every year by acting academies, programs, schools, and theatre camps. [72] [73] MTI also licenses another youth version of the show, called Annie KIDS, a 30-minute length version meant for elementary-aged performers. I liked the changes made to the filmed version, they suited the written format. It's a short-ish read, a conpetent reader would have no issues getting through this. Evans, Greg (August 5, 2021). "Nicole Scherzinger Joins Cast Of NBC's 'Annie Live!' ". Deadline Hollywood.
