About this deal

Daisy Rogers works in the hospitality department of one of the teams following the F1 race. Her job is to provide food and drink to the team members and their sponsors. While performing this task Daisy crosses paths with Luis Castro. Not a nice meeting because Luis almost hit crashed Daisy with her scooter. Instead of apologizing, Luis accuses Daisy of being an incompetent driver and just unplugs her. Im plowing through this books still, the end is in sight, but its has not been a fun and enjoyable journey thus far, and I dont expect it to turn into one any time soon. Bob Mortimer wins 2023 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction with The Satsuma Complex I waited, and sure enough, in a moment she looked at me with an absolute smirk on her lovely face as if she had asserted her membership in a rather distinguished secret society to which she and Tom belonged.”

They are self-centered, moody, unfaithful and over the age of 25 but act like fifteen year olds. The insta-love between Daisy and Will worked for me when I thought for sure I knew how it would go; I was absolutely sure that she would realize that he was a sneak douche and serial mistress-keeper. Because the prologue was basically all about Luis it was obvious from then on that he is who she would end up with but halfway through this is instead arranged by Will dying in an accident, becoming canonized, leaving his affair with Daisy as Twu-Wuw in her imbecile mind. Cue plenty of dramatic wailing. It’s a cute story that features some great characters. But there were a couple of things that were a little confusing and should have been changed during the editing process. For example, at the beginning of the book the main character mentions that one of the drivers has never won a race before but when they’re in Monaco later on in the book, she asks him if he’s ever won there before which just didn’t make any sense. But those were some minor things that didn’t change the fact that this was overall a great book. When I read Chasing Daisy was set in the world of F1 I was so excited to read it. I LOVE Formula One. (A Fernando Alonso fan who likes Seb Vettel but also doesn’t mind Button, if you’re asking). So I was hopeful this novel would give some insight to the world of Formula One and it does, brilliantly, and I loved it. The writing. First person present tense voice. I realize that this is par for the course in Young Adult books, and in some of those cases it works reasonably well (i.e. The Hunger Games) but the voice has to be pretty unique for first person point of view to add to the story. In this case it doesn’t, and the present tense makes it worse as always. Also, I realize that this isn't YA but with the maturity-level of the characters you could have fooled me. Which brings me to: It was also well written, though I think that her writing could still be improved at some points. There were just a couple of sentences that would’ve sounded a lot better, and would’ve made the whole reading experience a little better, if they had been rephrased in the editing process. But this book was published almost 10 years ago and it was one of the first ever books Paige Toon published, so I’m sure that has improved since then and I’ll make sure to read one of her more recent books as soon as possible to find out if I’m right in assuming that.

Table of Contents

The story was set on several different country because Daisy works as a front-of-house girl in hospitality and catering for a Formula 1 team, so she goes all around the world wherever the team would race with 2 gorgeous hot racers who she had a crush for one of them at hate for the other. . I guessed Daisy's famous ex was Johnny it was good to read about him from another person's perspective other than meg' s. I like how Luis works all this out not Will. That’s when Daisy and Luis again renew their friendship; after all, Luis is a person who is very trusty of Daisy and always makes her cheerful. While Luis does not want to miss the opportunity to approach Daisy, he drags her to lunch and charity events filled with important people who sponsor their teams. And while in Brazil he brings Daisy to meet with his extended family. Secondly: The plot. Now, I could be wrong in saying that the attraction insta-love with Daisy and Will was over the top. Of course, I don't have enough concrete proof to say so, since I don't know how the story develops from there. As you will notice, this book is on my 'Abandoned' shelf.

Daisy then finds out that Luis turned out to be one of two new riders who will join their team the following year. When the racing season begins again, Daisy tries to avoid Luis because she does not want Luis to remember the event that ‘almost collided them while in Brazil. In an effort to prevent Luis, Daisy once again finds herself almost bumping into him. And of course Luis then remembers her, and again the war of their words begin. The characters felt incomplete, so don't even dare ask me about them. There is absolutely no connection between them and they all are selfish, temperamental, disloyal, and an adult that behaves like a screaming kid. One fact about me that often surprises people is that I am a big Formula 1 fan. The sport just really fascinates me and race weekends are my favorite weekends of the year. Also, I really hope I’ll one day be able to attend one of the races instead of only being able to watch from in front of my TV. Daisy is completely unlikable, as for that matter is Holly who is also having an affair, but who I am also supposed to feel for because the wife of this man is a complete bitch.I looked outdoors for a minute, and it’s very romantic outdoors. There’s a bird on the lawn that I think must be a nightingale come over on the Cunard or White Star Line. He is singing away… It’s romantic, isn’t it Tom?” Daisy was young and her artificial world was redolent of orchids and pleasant, cheerful snobbery and orchestras which set the rhythm of the year, summing up the sadness and suggestiveness of life in new tunes.”

That’s why I was stoked when someone told me that Paige Toon has written a book that is set in the ‘F1 circus’. I was so excited to finally read it and it definitely didn’t disappoint me.After a slightly slow start for me this book kept getting better and better. We meet Daisy and Luis when they are having an argument over who caused her to fall off her motorbike (we later discover this was when Luis fell in love with her at that point the feeling wasn't mutual) The story is of Daisy, whom we have met before in Johnny Be Good, but she was in a different guise. She is a front-of-house girl for an F1 team and gets to travel the world for free. Trouble is she isn’t totally over her famous ex, who broke her heart, and she’s just fallen head over heels in love with someone else… someone who puts his life on the line every time he goes to work – an F1 driver. The Great Gatsby depicts Daisy Buchanan as the physical representation of Jay Gatsby’s dreams of wealth and a better lifestyle — the American Dream. He had a fling with her years prior, but when he left for World War I, she married a high-class man named Tom, with whom she is unhappy. The classic romance novel begins as Gatsby has amassed his own wealth in an attempt to win over Daisy’s heart again. Best Quotes from The Great Gatsby About Daisy THE ONE WE FELL IN LOVE WITH was selected for the Zoella Book Club and Paige Toon's novels have been published across the world. I'm guessing that halfway through the book, his and Daisy's eyes-meet-across-a-crowded-room, hearts go pitter-patter and suddenly she doesn't know what to do.

They moved with a fast crowd, all of them young and rich and wild, but [Daisy] came out with an absolutely perfect reputation. Perhaps because she doesn’t drink. It’s a great advantage not to drink among hard-drinking people. You can hold your tongue, and, moreover, you can time any little irregularity of your own so that everybody else is so blind that they don’t see or care. Perhaps Daisy never went in for amour at all—and yet there’s something in that voice of hers. . . What’ll we do with ourselves this afternoon,’ cried Daisy, ‘and the day after that, and the next thirty years?'” There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams—not through her own fault but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion… No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly heart.”Daisy has been dumped, unceremoniously jilted. Not by any ordinary guy, no… Daisy has a secret in her past that she won’t even tell her best friend, Holly. Life can be snatched away from you in an instant, but if you don´t give yourself up to love, even with all the risks of losing it, life isn´t worth living.” I shouldn't have read this in one sitting because now I have to write this review before I forget my main points. Unfortunately, I barely have any coherent feelings towards this as it is. Understandably, it can be difficult to enjoy a book when the main character (and a lot of the others) make some very morally incorrect actions. For most of this I had no idea what the real plot was and where it was heading. I just knew a lot of conscious mistakes were being made, indecisiveness was a prominent theme and I was waiting for some 'good' to come out of these characters. I found myself caught up in the story despite all of this. There were definitely a lot of fillers or inconsequential dilemmas, but oddly enough I wasn't deterred from reading on.
