About this deal

Gorgeous, though she has no idea. Smart. She takes the time to tutor other students without making them feel stupid for it. And loyal as shit. Logan might not care if you talk to her ‘cause he knows you’d never do anything, and you like to be an ass. But, Ash? She’ll let you know you’re barking up the wrong tree if she doesn’t like your attention.”

Only part of the book I slightly enjoyed was the surprise that Colt is actually a bit of a sweet boyfriend. how she constantly kept getting jealous and stuff for mia and colt, even when she's supposed to be loyal to logan, and kept giving them both shit about it even if colt did it out of his good heart.

ahhh this man was a dreamboat. And ya he let Logan date Ashlyn knowing hes cheating but then he also gave him an ultimatum so would come clean cause he couldnt see her in pain anymore. h had sex with boyfriend and H could hear it (they weren’t together at the time) but h was thinking of him

like how come a person doesn't know their partner is cheating on them, she only understood that logan was cheating on her AFTER he sent her a breakup message like bffr rn. I really wish I liked this more. I’ve read a few best friend’s girl romances now and I know that the angst and tension can be absolutely amazing, but this really fell flat once they got together. Ash’s naivety was so frustrating. He ex was a monster. Colt was really the best part of this book, except for the fact that he kept saying “I’m a gentleman” every chapter. SHOW me, don’t keep telling me.

i know that this is a fictional book and not necessarily representative of the author's own views, and i know that men talk about women like this in real life, but it's still irritating. i doubt that ANYONE reading a romance book like this is doing so for their daily dose of realistic misogyny.

I was excited to read this book because I followed the author on tiktok and accompanied some of the writing process. But I am extremely disappointed with the outcome. It has every trope I despise: not like other girls; slut shaming; love at first sight (kind of was); mention of social media (hemhem tiktok) and very messy plot line. It is not long before Colton takes a shine to Ashley, even though he knows that she should be off limits given that she is the girlfriend of one of his best friends. Kelsie Rae’s novel “Don’t Let Me Fall,” tells the story of a college student named Ashlyn who has been described as a good and loyal girl. A new adult romance, many of the previous chapters focused heavily on college life with house parties and drinking games and could probably have been trimmed down to get to the heart of the story. But the story was filled with many life lessons focused on chasing dreams and finding your purpose, fighting for what you believe in, for the future you want. As a full-time mother, she used to read 4-5 books every week as she loved falling in love with the many characters in the romance fiction she read. There's minimal OM/OW drama in this book- Blakley is dating someone from the team and Theo is a (reformed) manwhore. You know what there's a lot of? TENSION. This book is sooo full of unresolved tension, it was amazing. Theo and Blakely had to work hard for it, but they finally got their happily ever after. Theo is Blakely's older brother's best friend. They've had a thing for the other since she was 15 years old, but they've never acted on it. In fact, Theo pushed Blakely away for years. The h gets mad and jealous (yet apparently knows she shouldn’t) for a man she knows NOTHING about. When their tutoring session started, they had their first real conversation (without Colt’s continuously smirking) and I thought “yes! We’ll see a bit of their friendship build?”. Nope. Apparently these go from strangers, to strangers in a complicated situation with apparently a lot of chemistry although they haven’t spoken to each other, to screwing around to we’ve always been in love. The END.

Even though I have not enjoyed this book, I am not bashing on anyone else who enjoyed it. Please don’t read this if you’ll take it personally/get offended. You’re his best friend, Colt. Can you imagine what he would do or how he would act if he found out we hooked up? Especially when he knows I’ve only ever been with him until today? He’d be pissed––” I feel Blake was such a strong character that just CRUMBLED under a man. The way that they make her be just for Theo. Him being her first, and probably only, is fine. But the way she says at one point how “it’s always been his” makes me wonder if we really have progressed as a society. How she’s so strong willed and just kept forgiving Theo. The first problem, Blake being Colts sister. They make a big deal about it, making the “best hokey team” lose a game, just so Colt can say “I know you’ve always loved her. Make it right and we’re cool”. Like, really, that simple? YOU NEVER SAY THE OTHER PERSON'S INSECURITIES AND FAILURES EVEN IF YOURE TOO ANGRY AT THEM, it just shows how you've been raised up, tho ive no doubt seeing her parents aren't that stable themselves either, but no it's his decision anyway why are you getting in between. The third is the story of two troubled souls one a divorced paramedic and the other a woman dumped by her boyfriend for her health condition. While they could not be any more different, they have some intense chemistry they cannot explain. Kelsie Rae published “Don’t Let Me Fall,” the debut novel of the series in 2022 and given the popularity of that first work, she decided to make it into a series. The series of novels now has at least four works with more still in the pipeline. Ashlyn is super annoying. From the beginning, she’s basically admitting that there’s no spark/connection with Logan anymore, and she feels more for Colt in the first two moments she speaks to him than she ever did for Logan in their years long relationship. Also, she’s completely ignoring the red flags, but still wants to make it work with Logan because she prides herself on being loyal. Like just break up with him, you’re not emotionally invested in him. (Also her thinking about Colt while having sex with Logan… emotional cheating right there). i'd just love to see a college sports romance where the ML's POV DOESN'T make me want to hurl from how misogynistic it is, and where the FL isn't depicted as some special unicorn of a character just because she doesn't have sex. can we STOP correlating one's worth with their sexual promiscuity?
