About this deal

again, the best chemistry of the series. they’d just be staring at each other and i was giggling twirling my hair with hearts in my eyes, fr. especially with Lana, she held her own against Cal and really challenged him. she was his perfect match in every aspect, honestly. Following in the footsteps of his brothers, Cal has a mission he must complete to gain his inheritance and honour is grandfathers wishes. Only, being in close proximity to the ex he never forgot and left due to his ongoing addiction (triggers for drug and alcohol abuse), leaves him remembering the past and wanting more for his future. Cue Lana and her cute as hell daughter, Cami. All lives collide and I loved getting to know them all.

Of all the stupid ways you could have phrased that… Embarrassment floods my cheeks pink. Cal’s laughter doesn’t help matters, only making my flush worse. First all can we talk about how I love how the book touched on love and struggling with an addiction. I think it can help someone who has either dealt with this in life or has someone who's struggling with an addiction and how they can cope. my expectations for this book was in hell and basically nonexistent because i’ve read 3-4 books by her and they’ve been average/decent at best and boring at worst. so my opinion of this book will def be in the minority lol. BUT i do think this is her best one yet My hand clutching the piping bag tightens. A blob of icing drops on to the half-finished cupcake, ruining my design. As much as I love the grumpy sunshine trope going on with the first two books, I love the golden retriever energy that Cal has and his undying loyalty that he has. I love his determination to change for himself and becoming a person who would be deserving of a better life.Several comments about this book. Firstly like all Asher's books, it is well written with a lot of detail and of course with much fun, humour and deathly romantic. I enjoy the Dreamland series and this one doesn't disappoint. What a beautiful book to wrap up the Dreamland Billionaires series. I have been looking forward to Cal’s book and it did not disappoint. I literally binged it in one day and I have no regrets. Lana is a boring character. All I can remember about her is that she's a single mother, loves to bake, and is somehow still madly in love with an addict who walked away from her YEARS ago. Like babe, how did you not move on? Also, Alana says she wants to help Cal but also doesn't really offer much support for fear she and Cami are going to get hurt. I get she has trust issues. I really do. But how she eventually 'overcomes' it isn't really discussed, and as someone who grew up with immediate family members who were addicts, it would take more than a few months to trust again fully. Because if Cal is the sun, then the rest of us are aimless planets revolving around him, tragically trapped in his orbit.

Cal’s grandfather passed away and in his will, he had conditions. Cal needs to sell his grandfather’s house, in a small town in Lake Wisteria, to get access to his shares and money. But he doesn’t expect to see Alana, his ex, to be living there. He has to convince her to let him sell the house by the end of the summer to get his inheritance. i can totally see why people would love this book sm. it was definitely her best writing, and far from being a bad book. but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me and dragged on for far too long. NO ONE can convince me a contemporary romance needs to be 600 pgs especially when a good chunk of of it is just filler and repetitive. despite the the length, we barely got any solid context on their history (their childhood friendships, how they got together, their past relationship, separation etc) which was very frustrating and left so many blanks in their story. why even make ‘em childhood friends if you aren’t gonna build on it ??? i don’t understand. this all just made it really hard for me to connect to them as characters or root for their hea.

Cal is strong and he knows his addiction has to be handled and managed and eventually he does go to rehab. Now this is the point I want to clarify why I didn't award this as a five star book. I’ve always loved you, although at first it was platonic and innocent. But the love grew as we did, morphing into something more mature. Something strong enough to stand the test of time and distance every single year. A love built on memories of the past and a hope for the future" I have to say it’s a very very slow burn lol but it’s worth being patience so im happy to say the ending was satisfying and not rushed at all!!

CAL My favorite Kane brother and one of my favorite fictional men in general. He was sarcastic and funny, but so loving and gentle (AND HOT, IYKYK). I fell for a blond man who loves The Catcher in the Rye and is a CANCER (calling the police). However, I must forgive everything when it comes to Callahan Kane, right? So many scenes and things about him I love so much, but I don't want to bore you with this never-ending review. I love how he dealt with his problems, he learned maturity and growth, he shared so many beautiful moments with Lana. He is a beautiful father to Cami. Such a heartthrob! Cal’s complexity was arguably one of my favourite things about this book! we really go on a personal journey with Cal. his growth and development towards self-acceptance and love was written pretty effortlessly. the nuances of his addictions and trauma were surprising. i didn’t expect LA to go into the depth she did and it made me more emotional than i ever expected. especially in regards to his self-loathing. the way he viewed himself hurt my heart so much and the way everyone treated him was just 😫😫😫

Alana, our single mom is nothing special. She is as bland as a piece of paper. In fact, even paper has variety and character to it. Alana's personality is only being a mom to Cami and being emotionally abusive throughout the series to Cal. Let me elaborate, firstly she knows she has knowledge about Cami that Cal wants to know and cause knowledge is power, she makes sure to keep it to herself for absolutely no reason but just to manipulate Cal with it for about 50% of the book. Cal asks her about Cami multiple times and is ignored. The next instance is she constantly claims that she wants to support Cal with his addiction BUT she never does. At every minor inconvenience, she blames it on his addiction and uses and abuses Cal emotionally to get her way, throughout the book. She also has major trust issues, at times logical but the rest of the time purely illogical and that is never rectified. Alana to me is a major red flag and is so much WORSE than Iris and Zahra. From TikTok sensation Lauren Asher comes the final spicy romance in the Dreamland Billionaires series. As the three of them are forced to play house, they fall into a routine and it would be easy for Lana and Cal to imagine a life together but the looming end of the summer and Cal leaving is one of the things that has Lana holding onto any sense of letting herself fall again for the man who so obviously wants to become someone who is worthy of her time. I break into a fit of laughter. My lungs burn from how hard I laugh, and my eyes water in an automatic response.
