About this deal

LAURA: Alishea, I know you love to present Book Club when Rhys isn't here. But I promise you I will not present Book Club while you and Rhys aren't here. Oh, sorry, Alishea, kkkk, kkkk, you're breaking up, kkkk, I can't hear you, kkkk, kk. ALEX: There was once a detective called Magnifying Glass. And Magnifying Glass, um, was, he really wanted to find a magical butterfly. In an incredible moment in the film, Rashford receives a personal phone call from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, setting out the changes his government would be making. The Book Club will launch in June 2021 with its first title, A Dinosaur Ate My Sister by Pooja Puri, illustrated by Allen Fatimaharan - a laugh-out-loud, fully-illustrated time travel adventure. A Dinosaur Ate My Sister is the first middle grade title from author Pooja Puri (The Jungle, Ink Road) and was acquired by Simran Sandhu and Rachel Petty as part of three book world rights deal from Lauren Gardner at Bell Lomax Moreton.

He trained for a week with Manchester City before he joined the academy system at Manchester United when he was just seven years old, amid interest from Liverpool and Everton. He credited his brothers with helping him decide to join United. ALEX: That's the thing. I don't remember. He has a dog or something? I can't remember the name of the dog. ALEX: Mm-hmm, yeah. The thing that I always think about is, um, for getting my main character, um, to think about what are the things that they want and to um-, and to kind of show them trying to get that. Um, when you have a main character and you have a thing that they want, you immediately have, I think, a little bit of tension, which I think can really add to the mystery, um, and to the suspense of a chapter.

Marcus Rashford's non-fiction books

Along the way, Marcus has formed a Child Food Poverty Taskforce and launched 'Full Time Meals' - a nationwide food education and cooking project designed to equip all children with a vital life skill, building confidence in the kitchen. LAURA: Ok, so this is for both of you. What was it like to work with Marcus Rashford? How did you work together to come up with the story? ANTHONY HOROWITZ: Well, WriteForLife, I, I mean, it's so difficult. I mean, I, I sort of love all my books, really. But I guess I have to go for "Where Seagulls Dare", because it's the most recent book. It's the one that's just out now. And I think that's how it is when you're a writer. The book you're writing or the book you've just written is the one that you feel closest to. ALEX: So the first thing I think about is what do I want the setting to do in- as part of the story? Um, how do I want this place to feel? Um, how do I want the audience to feel about it? And then when you can go from there, when you know what you want, um, you-, how you want the place to feel, then you- you go through your senses. Think about your smell, um, the things you can hear, the things you can see. And then just really go through there, and, um, and using that you can really craft a- a setting.

LAURA: The next world's worst for you is, what book character do you think would be the world's worst tennis player? Together, they called for three policy recommendations by the National Food Strategy to be funded by the government as soon as possible: expanding free school meals to reach more children, expanding existing school holiday food and activities programmes and increasing the value of the Healthy Start vouchers - which help pregnant women, and parents with children under the age of four - to reach an additional 290,000 people. MARTA: And then we're gonna go – just not to get lost in it a bit too much, we go a little bit on one side...a little bit on the other. In your book You Are a Champion , there’s a chapter called Never Stop Learning. Can you tell us three things, big or small, that you have learn ed this year? I gather you've just played Everton?" says the prime minister, before asking whether he scored. A modest Rashford replies that he got an assist and his mum had just been teasing him for missing a header. Our case studies demonstrate the many and diverse benefits, to children, families and the whole school, of Magic Breakfast provision. LAURA: That is a good review, thank you so much. Ok, let's get to know you a bit more. I've got some questions for you here.

Breakfast features a few times in your book – Weetabix as a kid; your nan a’s unbeatable corn porridge… What is your breakfast of champions today? Mel says there were times she served up food for her children but there would not be enough for herself. After huge public pressure, the government decided to offer extra support to hard-pressed families over the winter. Marcus Rashford MBE is Manchester United's iconic number 10 and an England International footballer.

What are Marcus Rashford's latest books?

The last one for you here. There are cups, tea pots, and tea everywhere. A hat has been left at the scene of the crime. It looks like there has been some sort of party. Perhaps an un-birthday party. ANTHONY HOROWITZ: Ooh, tennis player. Oh, tennis is about to start. I'm, I'm, I'm gonna go for "War Horse", Michael Morpurgo, wonderful character, horses are fantastic. But they're not much good at tennis. LAURA: First one, a headmaster has called about a strange goings-on in her office. She thinks it could be one of her students. A glass of water has just moved right across the desk and a newt has been dropped into the glass.

Ask the children to find out about the football career of Marcus Rashford and write a short biography about him.MARTA: Little lines underneath, because he's smiling, and when we smile we've got these little lines. And last but not least... LAURA: Thank you so much for joining us today. Now here on Book Club, we love a five-word book review. So my challenge to you two, is to give me a five word review of "The Breakfast Club Adventures: The Beast Beyond the Fence."
