About this deal

This (true) story hopefully shows the beauty of Sunshine Man to the extent that I intend it to. It is a special scent to me because it was one of the first sneeze scents I smelled. It smelled and smells mostly like sunscreen to me with a pleasant cedar note. Tested it first in the spring and then on and off over the summer. Today was now the right winter day to apply him again.

Sunshine fits, as a name well somehow the fragrance makes me happy and I schnupperTE ;( like to her, even if I have worn another fragrance. Amouage has always been hit-or-miss with me, and the ones that were failures were generally horrific, like a 16-car pileup on the interstate. Admittedly, I haven’t tried many of the “men’s” versions at all, and that might make a difference. I liked Gold Woman (though it was, um, kinda huge and stompin’ big), Dia Woman, Ubar (old and new), and Jubilation XXV.There you have it the scent reminds me of an elegant woman from the 40's smoking and smelling of delicious peach and apple pie. As with all the fragrances from Amouage that I know, the scent develops continuously by presenting the scent actors one after the other - like in a play - and they have their "special moment" in the process.

And despite the fact that classic fragrance antagonists are missing: I never get bored of Sunshine. Fortunately, it is also far away from the currently banal mainstream synthetic sweethearts like everything by Paco Rabanne. It goes on all sparkly and fresh. Yeah, there, I said it, the part that I want to hate. I haaaaaate fresh perfumes. But I don’t really hate this exactly. I sorta hate it, but it is liquid gold and sunny and bright and, yikes! still fresh’ish. […] With Honour Woman, you will have a fragrance that attracts attention with its alluring and powerful touch. Every woman will want to carry this bewitching aroma everywhere she goes.I had already started writing the review yesterday evening, to be more specific. Like probably everyone who writes a review I sprayed the fragrance and then started typing to really have the scent in front of my eyes again. Sunshine I've had for a while ie I would have said until this evening that was more than enough time to get to know it. This is my first time reading your blog and I was doing a search on Sunshine by Amouage and your review popped up.

Actually, I was planning to dedicate a different kind of review to this beautiful fragrance. I wanted to go especially on the fact that he reminds me of a fictional character from a certain film. But only later more. This fragrance is adored by almost everyone who tries it, and we found one Amouage review that spoke of its quality and performance. It read: I feel that the (woman versions of) Ciel, Reflection, Honour are all approachable fragrances Ciel was released about 12 years ago-and I find it more so “Chanel Exclusif” like then say Journey Woman, which I found less approachable then the 3 previously mentioned. But I own both of these and I like them for different reasons. There are 8 courses, beautifully fine with decorated biscuits on the plate. Between the corridors one may swing the dance leg. We eat, talk and observe. Cultivate our marriage, so to speak. They are always in a half moon shape and filled with apples and cinnamon, dusted with powdered sugar to boot.

SAZNAJ PRVI!

Amouage has produced some of the best feminines in recent memory: Lyric [2008], Ubar [2009] and Fate [2013], all of them luxuriant, dark, moody compositions. This is definitely not one of them. I have no idea whether sales of the above-named masterpieces came up to expectations, but Sunshine feels like the sort of “safe” white flowers fragrance that bean counters demand to replenish coffers depleted by artistic license. Sunshine somehow manages to be both banal and distinctively unpleasant. By a mysterious alchemy of synthetic raw materials, the overall impression from top note to drydown is one of staleness, and as the fragrance progresses, a long-lasting accord emerges that smells very much like cork taint in wine. A peculiarity of beauty is to be adjacent to happiness, and conversely, this sort of unattractiveness suggests unrelieved, shabby melancholy. Appropriately enough, the bottle is in a faded chrome yellow that clashes with the sad pale blue of the box. So pompous words, so good. I probably can't hide the fact that I'm an Amouage fanboy, nor that my signature fragrance deserves less pompous words. Sunshine is the driver of Apollo's sun car - and next to him there is a free seat, you can jump on and join him on his journey...
