Excerpt: Not too bad - I like this better than the OG Blanton's and about the same as some of their Straight From The Barrel expressions. This is the first time the Blanton’s Gold Edition has been made available in the U.S. Previously the only version of the Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon available to fans stateside was the Original Single Barrel, bottled at 93 proof. While Blanton’s Original will still be available, the Gold Edition is now joining the ranks. Each stopper is marked with a single letter that spells Blanton’s when the set has been completed. The final stopper, marked by “S” always finishes the race in victory!

Blanton’s Gold Edition is, first of all, of a higher proof than their regular Blanton’s, and you will notice the extra 5% alcohol even from the first sip. That being said, it has a stronger taste of charred oak and a very pleasant caramel smell.Caramel, dark fruit, orchard fruit, oak, vanilla, that same spice that starts low and builds (cinnamon-bergamot hybrid), molasses and a slight touch of an herbal character.
