About this deal

When looking at a product of this type, it’s good to compare it to something that claims to be a similar product. I decided to compare it to the Flymo Lawnrake Compact 3400 Electric Lawnrake to understand what makes either of these electric rakes stand out in terms of performance, build quality and value for money. Both the Bosch and Flymo rakes are of a similar price and size (32cm and 34cm rake width), both use a cylinder rake, however, the Bosch has slightly more power at 900 W compared to 750 W of the Flymo. Lastly, we also recommend looking at the weight and power of the machine , as it indicates how easy it’ll be to use and manoeuvre. All this information can be found in the handy comparison table below. If there’s a group of gardening tools that have people confused, it’s these three right here. But let’s get a few facts straight before we begin – There’s no difference between today’s range of scarifiers and lawn rakers. It’s just that when people refer to rakes, they mean those simple, long, light leaf rakes operated manually.

The aerating roller works just as well. You may find that you don’t actually need to use it once you’ve scarified, but, if you do, you’ll be happy with the results. For this reason, I think it’s a great machine if you want a scarifier at a budget-friendly price; however, consider another option if the aerating function is also important to you. You’ll probably have to spend a bit more to get a machine that’s a better all-rounder. This lawn rake is another fine product worthy of the name.
First of all, it has an extremely compact and light weight design with dimensions of 24 x 50 x 50 cm, and tipping the scales at only 7kg.
Despite this, the raker feels robust and has a decent amount of power thanks to the 600W motor. I tell you right off the bat I really do think this is the best for budget in the UK but it’s not without flaws. When using the deepest setting I get the feeling it rides up a bit creating a cut in the lawn that isn’t quite as deep as intended. This is fine if you pass over multiple times but remember the process is pretty brutal on a lawn! Scarifying is nothing less than an invasion over a soil bed. So, you always help your lawn to recover well. It could be an easy process if your timing is right. In other words, if the lawn is getting enough sunlight and oxygen after scarifying, the recovery process will speed up.

Lawn Raker Vs Scarifier Vs Aerator

You can easily find grass scarifiers and aerating tools along with an interchangeable head at a lower price point. Budget machines are the ones that attract the attention of buyers. Buy such budget models only if you have to use them over a small garden. Aerating drums of lawn scarifiers have blades which can make slits in the surface of the soil. Don’t set the machine for too low since it may cause undue stress on the functioning, and may have operational issues in the long term. To give you some guidance on which type of customer would suit this model best, below I’ve got a list of the categories they would fall under: The machine is also so easy to use, it’s lightweight at just under 10 kg making it simple to manage. A lot has changed since I first reviewed electric scarifiers a few years ago. Since testing the Cobra S3840V Cordless Battery Scarifier & Aerator I am convinced cordless models will play a part. It’s not without it’s faults but still, if you need cordless, and you don’t want petrol – it is well worth a look! Here’s me testing that:

Assembly Ease: The first test I conducted was how easy each scarifier was to assemble. Scarifiers that took me 30 minutes or more to assemble were marked down, as these would likely take the average gardener a long time to put together. Models with minimal assembly requirements that took 15 minutes or less to assemble and had detailed instructions were rated high in terms of assembly ease. Let’s start with assembly – something that I never really enjoy doing. This Hyundai needed a little more work than the other models I tested. Assembly took about 30 minutes in total. This isn’t a huge amount of time, but keep in mind that I have a fair bit of experience assembling scarifiers. For someone who has never done this before, it’ll likely take much longer, especially considering that the instruction manual was very little help. VonHaus scarifier is efficient and gives you desired results, without doing much hard work. It’s also available at an attractive price tag that’s hard to ignore. Overall, the machine is suitable for users who need a dependable unit that can scarify and aerate a lawn without much investment. When you have a choice of working depths, you can start on the highest, going down through the settings until you find which is best for collecting the debris. It is much better to go slow, rather than choose too deep a setting to start with and puncture your lawn.

The Makita UV3200 Lawn Scarifier comes with all the rich features that will enhance your garden maintenance. This corded electric machine is powered by a motor of 1,300 Watts with a guaranteed cylinder speed of 3,500 revolutions per minute. It comes with a working width of 32 centimetres meaning that you won’t need to spend the whole day scarifying your lawn. A manual lawn scarifier is quiet, easy to store and doesn’t require any maintenance other than scrapping the rust off. The light weight (9.4kg), small size and fold away handles make this lawn rake excellent for smaller lawns or lawns with smaller strips of grass. The 32 cm width seems to be just right when you need to navigate lawns with flower beds or narrow strips, however, if I had a very large open lawn I would consider a lawn rake with a larger width. Bosch is a trustworthy brand when you are looking for one of the best lawn scarifiers. Bosch AVR 1100 uses a 1100W motor to give you the desired results so that you can trust the brand even more. Now, you might think; is this power is sufficient to deal with thatches and weeds? Yes, its strong vertical blades go deep into the soil without much effort.Incidentally, the best for weeds and roots are the Makita and the Bosch. So following on from that you probably want to understand how deep it can rake and scarify so you can workout what tool you’ll need for your garden specifically: How deep can it scarify? But why is that important? Well, the more oxygen in the soil, the healthier your grass will be! In addition, the best lawn scarifiers also help keep weeds at bay. They really are exceptionally useful little machines! Understanding ‘Working Depth’
