Ms Penn was known for decades in Derby for owning her self named Aileen Penn children's clothes store in Green Lane. Inspired by the rich ceramics imported from Japan in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century, Derby porcelain has been famous worldwide for the manufacture of their rich Imari wares since the late 18th Century. There have been many Royal Crown Derby Imari and Imari-inspired patterns since then and the designers are constantly creating adaptations of these patterns and showcasing them throughout the range of paperweights, tableware, accent plates and decorative homewares. The Imari Wares collection we have in store includes new and pre-owned paperweights, seasonal wares, a selection of tableware (including the beautiful Imari Accent plates), collectables and giftware.

This trip from the Derbyshire Yeoman of Kingsway, to The Lord Nelson at the end of Friar Gate, used to be the ultimate Derbeian night out. Sadly, there's not much left of the old route, and the much-loved stops along the way have been thinned out over time.

Her family said Ms Penn loved the shop so much that she very rarely had a day off in the 52 years she ran the shop.
