About this deal

You need support with overpronation, the ASICS Gel Kayano Lite 2 is the lightweight version of their flagship stability shoe.

It’s not the softest ride of any max cushioned trainer by any means: the Clifton 7 is still softer but the Clifton has a more uniform softness throughout its entire midsole. The new Nimbus 24 is now one of the lightest, bounciest max-cushioned trainers on the market and it’s definitely worth upgrading to the Nimbus 24, even if you have the Nimbus 23. It’s still a dual foam setup with Flytefoam (which is EVA) being the main component. In the rearfoot, on top of the Flytefoam is Flytefoam Propel which is an EVA-TPU blend. This new approach by ASICS has allowed the Japanese company to continually keep things fresh while also advancing beyond its competitors when it comes to running shoe technology. First impressions.. Opening the box I was immediately drawn to 2 things. Firstly the colourway, I'm not usually drawn to any shoe because of the colours but the Lake Drive/Hazard Green combo just looks fantastic ! And then taking them out of the box they felt noticeably lighter, in fact 20g lighter which is a huge improvement on previous Nimbus shoes. But does lighter and good looking mean better ? Let's get into the detail..On the outsole, there are two types of rubbers on the Nimbus 23: AHAR on the forefoot and most of the rearfoot with more durable AHAR+ on just the tip of the heel. With an above-average midsole width of 115.1mm at the forefoot and 91.6mm in the heel, the Nimbus is a bit wider than its lite counterpart. It’s fairly stable and I had no issues regardless of speed. Although not built for overpronators, they easily fit custom orthotics, and with the supreme padding of the midsole, could be a great option for people wanting a light stability shoe. After 20minutes in the lab freezer, that score went up to 38.5N which is a bit of a jump by 39.5%. It may not be ideal if you want this shoe to last you all year somewhere you have hot summers and cold winters. I have an issue with the grip in the new ASICS lineup

The ASICS GEL-NIMBUS™ range is the leading cushioning running shoe for neutral runners. From your first stride to your last, the lightweight cushioning and new improved fit provide lasting comfort you can rely on. The ASICS GEL-NIMBUS™ is one of the world’s most trusted running shoes, it has built the confidence of millions of runners all over the world and is highly recommended by running experts. With its superior comfort and quality thanks to its use of ASICS GEL™ technology, the GEL-NIMBUS™ is a long-distance running shoe that offers maximum cushioning and bounce, thanks to a range of ASICS performance technology. There is also some of Asics’s Gel material around the heel and inside the forefoot of the shoe. This has a slightly firmer feel than the foam around it. I now understand why the Nimbus is such a popular shoe and fans of the Nimbus series will love the new and improved Nimbus 23. A tropical climate where the average temperature is 27 degrees Celsius and average humidity is 84% is not ideal for fast-paced running. This, paired with the bottoming out in the forefoot makes me think that some of that midsole is already hitting the ground. Conclusion Fans of previous Nimbus shoes might be wary of the significant changes here, but they feel like they are largely for the better. It’s a lighter shoe and the midsole foam creates plusher, bouncier surroundings to make running longer distances more comfortable.
